DVC Resale - 2018 points?

I've seen DVC resale contracts with 2019 points so I assume they would be banked into the current year, so technically now 2020 points that will expire?

I've also seen some with 2018 points and that really confuses me. I am assuming there is either an error in the listing, or possibly an old contract on the site that wasn't deleted?

Can anyone clear this up for me?

June, Aug, Sept, Oct and Dec are all currently in their 2019 UY. If those contracts have 2018 points, those points would have had to be banked into 2019. Any other UYs would not have 2018 points available any more.

Along those same lines, just because a contract has 2019 points, that does not mean that they have been banked. My Dec. 2019 points became “active” on December 1, 2019. They are good until November 30, 2020. I have until July 31, 2020 to bank them into my Dec 2020 UY. Someone with a June, Aug or Sept UY is past their banking deadline for their 2019 UY. Their 2019 points would be frozen in their 2019 UY and would need to be used before their next UY begins.

Because the banking window is July 31st for those 2019 I made the seller bank them now as a condition of the sale because I wasn’t sure everything would be done in time for me to bank,

So, if you find a contract with 2019 points, be sure you know when the banking window is and if you don’t think you’d finish the buying process by then, youd want to do the same thing.

Thanks! I actually was just about to ask this exact question This makes sense. So when you bank the Dec 2019 points, am I correct in thinking you have basically have Dec 2020 - Nov 2021 to use them before they expire?

Yes. The seller took care of it and it was reflected in the contract that they are now banked,

Like I said, I didn’t want to chance it, Since it has 2018 banked points that need to be used by November 30th...which i Have a use for, I didn’t want to have to be stuck.

Given the current situation, I figured they would take a hard line on late banking, even for new contracts.
