Okay, so, next June I plan on going to Disney for the week. The dates are, check in on June 3 and check out on June 10. I'd really like to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge or any of the deluxes. There are five of us going, four adults and an 8 year old. With DVC Rental, would be cheaper to book a villa? I'm a member of AAA and we get discounts on tickets as well. If I book with DVC Rental, do I still get magic bands for each member of my party? Do we still get Magical Express? Extra Magic Hours? ADR 180 days before? FP+ 60 days before? Can we add on the dining plan? Also, where is a good place to rent DVC points from? Sorry for the bombardment of questions, I'm very new to DVC rental and have never considered it an option until now.

With 5 people, you would need to rent a 1BR Villa via DVC. The studio villas do not sleep 5 over age 8. The sleeping arrangement in that unit is a ing bed in the bedroom, and a double sofa bed and a chair bed in the living area. Depending on your travel party, three people on fold-out bedding may not appeal. However, a week's rental at $14pp for the period you cite would come in around $2800 even for a Standard View, and a bit more for Savannah View.

A Lodge Room at AKL that sleeps 5 would require you to book a Club Level Suite; this would have 2 Queen beds and a Queen sleeper sofa. Rack rate for June of this year is over $1000/night. I don't know that your AAA discount is going to be able to get a week in Club Level at AKL in a room that sleeps 5 for similar cost as a DVC rental!

A DVC rental still gets Magic Bands, Magical Express, EMH, standard 180 booking for on-site ADRs. It is an on-site stay. You can add dining plan at the DVC contracted rate. You can buy discounted tickets through a third party (AAA, Undercover Tourist) and achieve additional savings there.

The biggest drawback, per some, is that when you rent DVC there is generally a no cancel policy, whether you use an agency or an independent owner; this is based on owner use year for the points they are booking you with. You do not get daily mousekeeping. You DO get a full kitchen and an extra bathroom in an AKV 1BR.

You also have to pay up front. You will want to have your booking request in on July 3 for your dates to have the best chance of booking your preferred room type and dates.

David's DVC Rental (dvc-request.com) is a sponsor of the DIS and very reputable as a DVC rental broker.

Honestly, if you're confident of your dates, I would rent the DVC unit. Heck, you could rent a 2BR DVC unit at AKV for ~$3500, which covers roughly 3 days in a Lodge room that sleeps 5.
