Does anyone have any experience with this? We were going to rent points for October, but there really isn't much left for Studios. The agent we have been in contact with mentioned she could book a stay at a normal Disney hotel. Will we get charged a fee by booking through them instead of booking the trip on our own? Is there a reason NOT to book with them? It takes the pain off of me on having to look for discounts when they are posted.

I totally agree. Ask them about fees etc. Different TA have different arrangements although usually there is no fee to the client for booking a hotel. Only they can tell you for sure.

You would probably be better off booking a room yourself directly with WDW. If you use a travel agent I think all changes have to pass through them to Disney. Which complicates things.

I found a ta company that has a deal on French quarter which is much cheaper than what Disney is offering so I may just go with them.

Most likely she is referring to using DVC points to book a stay at a non-DVC Disney hotel. DVC points can be used to book rooms at non-DVC resorts, but the exchange rate is very poor and not a good use of points (from an owner's perspective).

In any case, if you can't rent points for a DVC resort room, you're probably better off going with a regular Disney hotel cash booking.

Doubtful. The DVC rental agencies don't mess with that, but can operate as earmarked TAs.

She basically said she could make a normal reservation at a Disney hotel. She didn’t mention any discounts though. We are looking at the other ta because they have some good discounts. We’ve never used a travel agent before so it’s all new to us.
