DVC Rental Reservation in April

I currently have rented points to someone, through David's, for a reservation in April. I would have to look but at least some of these points were banked points so they have to be used this year SEP UY. The David's website seems to be ambiguous as to what should happen if Disney is still closed during your reservation (in my case, in April). I have the advantage of waiting until the reservation date passes to bank any bankable points but do we know if these reservations will be auto-cancelled, will DVC lax their rules for when these points will be used. I assume I have to refund the renter their fees then I guess I would re-rent the points, but I cannot imagine there will be a lot of availability between now and SEP. I assume there is a good chance we just lose these points if they cannot be banked?

Disney have said that points will retain their banking rules. If they cannot be banked, they will be lost if not used.

Who the reservation is for makes no difference for that.

Id be very interested in how this works out with Davids rentals? Who is liable for the refunds? How do you get paid? From David or from the renter. I assume David has to refund the renter since he took a profit off the rental and he will have to refund the entire thing.But maybe there is something in his rental agreements with you/them? Very interesting times and quite frankly what a mess. So sorry for all those with planned vacations during this time. You plan and look forward to trips for so long.

Yeah I assume they are trying to sort all of that out as well, at least what can be gleaned from their website. I do feel pretty bad for the renters because they are the ones who are effected more than me.

David and his team must me overwhelmed. I am sure they will be contacting every owner/renter one at at time.

There seems to be different opinion on to what will happen as the renters contract mentions no refunds, unless negligence of the owners. But that contract is with David’s,

Owners contract with David’s, not the renter, says you must provide some sort restitutions if you can’t deliver the reservation, but doesn’t give reason as to when that this kicks in.

So, I would say at this point, David’s would be the only one who can define how these two contracts work in conjunction with each other,

I have a rental contract with them as an owner, but that reservation isnt until August. So, by then, I am thinking the resort will be open and I will be able to deliver the room to the renter.

Got an email from DVC, of an interesting note it states that, "In light of the unusual circumstances and to provide more flexibility, Disney Vacation Club will return your points to your current Use Year without placing them into holding." I wonder if this means that borrowed/banked points will be returned as current use year points that can be banked or just that they will be returned for use in the current year without holding. Probably wishful thinking that it would be the former.

Wishful thinking. It seems they are only allowing points to avoid holding. All other rules apply..well, as of today they do,

Banked points are being returned to the year into which they were banked. They are not bankable again.

I just feel like the longer this goes on the more points that people will not be able to use. There are only so many points that can be used in a year.
