I'm looking to rent a from a Dvc owner in late Oct instead of booking through Disney web site at value/moderate resort. The question I have is can an owner get the same kind of package deal (air/magic express/tickets/room/travel insurance at or below web package pricing for a renter? Otherwise it gets somewhat complcated to incorporate all of the
options at a good price. Any advice would be appreciated.

Scott

Travel dates Oct 29- Nov 6 (looking for a studio).

The only things an owner can do for you is rent you the DVC reservation, arrange for Magical Express, and pass along info on the insurance. (Most owners do not consider the insurance option a good deal for points reservations and very few purchase it for their own stays).

You are on your own for everything else. If you are willing to make your own arrangments for air, tickets you could probably do better than the web. You'd have to do the math for yourself to be sure.

Best wishes -

As DVC members, we do not get those kinds of packages. We own a timeshare, and like most timeshares, it means accomodations in a vacation villa only. You would need a travel agent for the other items.

In addition to Carol's comments, you should also consider staying at a DVC resort if you're renting from a DVC member. You can often get a one bedroom villa- with King Bed, full kitchen, washer/dryer, in-room jacuzzi tub and more for about the same cost as a moderate resort using points. The only insurance offered thru DVC will reimburse you up to $5 per point used, so consider that before signing up for the insurance. Air reservations and car rentals can be purchased thru DVC, but can usually be found for less over the internet and would add a whole new level of challenge for a rental thru a member since you can't make any of those arrangements yourself, they'd have to be done thru the member on your behalf.

You should explore the total cost of the package you want and then figure out the separate components and see if you can do better woth any of those aspects to lower the overall cost. If it all sounds too daunting for your personal comfort zone, you might consider contacting a travel agent or just purchase the package directly thru Disney.

Good luck!
