DVC rental- perks??

Hello all! We are renting DVC points for an Aulani stay in November. It's both our first time to Aulani and our first time renting points. I recently read a trip report where someone rented DVC points and were able to get free parking- I guess the perk is tied to the points and not the person?

Has anyone else had any similar experiences? Do all membership perks apply if you're just renting? Because that would be amazing.

FYI we were just at Aulani in March. I had to show my DVC member card and photo ID to get the discount in the store.

OP, if you rent a car you will get free parking on DVC points.

I was there in April. I got the discount just by showing my wristband. Must depend on the clerk.

Two years ago while staying at Aulani on rented points I was told points renters had all benefits of owners except for attending the Monday meet and greet.

We were there in January, and we had to show our DVC member card every time we asked for a discount--spa, shop, cabana rental, etc.

We are not DVC and stayed on rented points. The fact that the reservation was on points was enough for the free parking. We never showed a member card for it. Your entry/exit to the parking garage is your resort key.

Parking is actually expensive there...thank goodness for the free parking!

This may depend on how it's booked. When we were staying there and had non-DVC guests with us, we got the sparkly member bands and they got the regular pool bands... They did ask us when we were getting our first bands so I'm not sure if they would actually check it or if I was just honest and that's what we got

Parking is automatically charged (or not charged if DVC) because you use your room key at the garage.

Okay so if you stay on points -- no matter if you own or rent -- you do not pay parking because it shows that you are DVC on your room card?

We were there in February and had to show our member cards for the gift shop discount, and we showed our member cards the first day to get the sparkly wristbands. After that, we were in the system for the wristbands and didn't have to show the cards on subsequent days.
