I'm looking to rent a from a Dvc owner in late Oct instead of booking thhrough Disney web site at value/moderate resort. The question I have is can an owner get the same kind of package deal (air/magic express/tickets/room/travel insurance at or below web package pricing for a renter? Otherwise it gets somewhat complcated to incorporate all of the
options at a good price. Any advice would be appreciated.

Travel dates Oct 29- Nov 6 (looking for a studio).

If you rent points from a DVC member you get your accommodations, and access to magic express. You can get your park tickets directly from Disney. DVCers only get a discount on annual passes, not regular MYW tickets. You can book your airfare directly online--that is cheaper than going through disney.

As far as travel insurance, ask the DVC member you rent from. They offer us travel insurance, but I'm not sure if it can be extended to other people using our points. I would guess that it can, because a few times I've booked more than one room at a time (for family) and gotten travel insurance for all of it. The insurance offered is $5 per point ($10 being the usual rental fee).

Generally, booking everything on your own saves you TONS of money over packages and travel agents. There are a few exceptions like Dreams Unlimited who go out of their way to get you the very best for your money.

Check the DVC rental board here.

one of the best bargin in airlines you must go though their website to get them

www.southwest.com

I don't know if the other discount airlines require you to go through their websites - but SW does.

DVC rental is as Jenny says only the room.

I wouldn't get the travel insurance because it doesn't pay what it is worth.
That is my opinion.

I will soon be taking my second trip this year renting points from a DVC member (I may even buy into DVC this trip!) and I can tell you that putting it all together yourself saves a TON of money!

DVC rental is just for your room. However, what you pay, is what you pay, there are no taxes, room occupancy fees etc. when you check out. You can also do the Magical Express when renting a DVC room, but cannot get a package that includes air and park tickets as well.

Check out www.expedia.com, www.southwest.com, www.jetblue.com, www.flysong.com and www.cheaptickets.com for flights, and keep checking, when you think you've got the best airfare deal ever, book! (We are flying Song this trip and got $140 R.T. from NY)!!

For tickets you have several options, but the cheapest I have found is www.ticketmania.com.

It takes a little more leg work, but the savings are worth it. An idea of the savings doing it this way is we are staying at the BWV, for less than a complete Disney package at the All Stars or POP.

Scroll down on the Board menu until you see the DVC Rent/Trade Board. You can either post what you are looking for or look for a poster who has what you want.

If you are unfamiliar with DVC, you might want to check out the information posts on the DVC Boards.

Good Luck!
