If trying to book through David's who currently has no availability for the desired resort/dates, do you recommend paying the fees to try other brokers?

Depends. When they say no availability, is it that the unit is available but points are not? Or is it that the unit is not available?

Because if the unit is gone, the unit is gone. Doesn't matter who you talk to. So, for instance, if you want a studio in October anywhere but SSR or OKW right now, it doesn't matter who you call. No one can get it for you.

Makes sense. Unit is available but they don't have an BLT owner with the right points.

If they don't have an owner able to make a reservation that is otherwise available, trying another broker might work for you as they might have an owner able to make the reservation for you.

It sounds as though you have nothing to lose in trying another broker - and by the same token, David's might have the points available tomorrow too.

I think you’d lose the initial deposit for one or both brokers.
I know Davids DVCrequest.com will refund the deposit if the reservation cannot be secured to your satisfaction. Perhaps other brokers have a non-refundable deposit policy, but David does refund the deposit on unavailable reservations. If other brokers do NOT refund the deposit for reservations they cannot fill perhaps that is a good reason not to deal with them. I would NOT suggest placing a deposit with multiple brokers (since they could all come in with the reservation requested) and NOT with any broker who does not refund unfulfilled reservations. But to be clear, DVCrequest.com does refund deposits on reservations they are unable to secure.

Potential renters can also seek reservations from DVC Members offering to make reservations on the DIS DVC Rent/Trade Board. I am not aware of any member offering to rent who asks for a deposit before checking availability. Just another option.

From DVCrequest.com :

"
Why We Collect a $112.00 Part Payment
Disney Vacation Club Resorts often sell out months in advance. If one of your requested resort/room combinations is available, we don't want to lose the availability or waste your valuable time with additional dialogue. By having your part payment on hand, we can immediately take the steps necessary to secure your reservation. Of course, if your requested resort/room combinations are not available, in the order you have selected, we'll give you the opportunity to select a different resort/room combination that might be available, or we will immediately refund your part payment. It's all about choice. Yours."

"If your request can not be fulfilled:

  • You will be given the opportunity to book available rooms/resorts.
  • If they are not satisfactory to you, your $112.00 partial payment is refunded."

I have rented a few times through Davids and it was always my understanding that if I wanted to try a different broker, I should request the refund of my deposit from Davids first so that both brokers aren't searching for the same request at the same time. When I've been put in a queue waiting for an owner with points, I have not received another communication from Davids until those point have been found and booked. It could result in multiple bookings if the points became available at both without enough time to cancel my request between them.

Also, I have had very good luck with Davids finding the points I needed even when I was very worried they would never come.

That's so nice to hear! I've been stressing a little. But still 9 months out. So hopefully there's time!

That is great news--I am on wait list for Bay Lake in October. Hope they come through quickly...
When is your trip?? Have a great time...
