DVC reception at Epcot Intl Gate

Attended this today, 12/5, with expectations of something special. Unless you werea pin trader, it was basically a zero. A cup of cider and some obnoxious loudmouth teaching line dancing to kids. Don't waste your time; recognizing that this is JMHO

Being that I'm a DVC owner and a pin trader, I would be interested in learning what all was provided at the event? Were they giving away pins, or were they for purchase?

DH, DS2 and I were there today also. We had a good time actually. You were given a raffle ticket/"goodie" ticket upon entering. The "goodie" was a large rice crispy treat with chocolate stuff on it (they were shaped/decorated like snowmen and stockings). Then there was a line where you could buy event only pins as well as the DVC member pins. Pluto, Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy were out and about for pics (long lines over by the snowman display where the character "couples" were). There were tables to make 4 different crafts - which were cute and fun and there were a lot of adults making them - not just kids. The DJ was a little loud for my taste, but I warmed up to the activities when I was asked to hold the limbo stick thing. That was fun to watch the kids do the limbo. There was cider, punch and water. Also, there was a pin trading area with one trading board. We picked up some pins that we will enjoy, but there was nothing spectacular on it. We were allowed two pins each (including my son). There was only a very short line for pin trading. They also had up a display board for upcoming LE pins. Then, of course, there was the obligatory DVC table giving info on current incentives and handing out points charts for AKV and BLT. As we left, each family was being given a 2008 DVC metal ornament. I thought it was a nice little event and we will plan on going again next year.

I was there today too and since I am into pin trading I did enjoy it. However, if you go, avoid the cash bar. I went over to check out the soda prices and I think that a can of soda was $4!

But anyways I enjoyed it. I got there a few minutes before 3 and was a fair way back in line. Then I went directly to the pin line so that I could purchase more pins because I really need more. Really I do!

I think that I was through the purchase line by about 3:30 or 3:40. From there I got my crispie treat, dropped off my raffle ticket and then headed over to pin trading. I actually had good luck here. I was able to trade for the Donald Pirate hidden mickey pin that I had been looking for! I agree there were a lot of adults and kids at the craft tables and they seemed to be having a great time. I did a couple of loops looking for LGMHs but I didn't see any besides Jamstew and RedBudLover who I met the day before.


For anyone that was there, I was the pooh sized middle aged woman wearing the mickey santa hat.

I think it sounds like fun, actually - my kids will love the characters and the craft tables!

I love "pooh sized"!! Too cute. DH and I had our Xmas Disney red thermals on and DS2 had his Mommy's Little Monster shirt. He was the kid who had us chasing him all over the tent for the last 45 minutes. PS. Got a super cute Jessica Rabbit with surfboard pin, Nightmare pin with little springy things and Tink with the glass wings. Nothing we needed for our sets, but we collect characters mostly, so got some good ones on that front. Merry Xmas
