Hi, i have just started to read about the DVC. If I, say bought 150 points for October, does that mean i can use 150 points worth every october without paying anything? If i understood that wrong, how much would it cost? Do you get any thing out of being a member?

thanks

Yes, you get those points refreshed every October. After the upfront, $70-84 per point, you have an annual mantainence fee. These dues range from around $3.40 to $4.25 per point. Curently, OKW is cheapest and I think VB is highest.

stal,

I think you want to do some basic reading. Try the FAQ on the top of this forum. Also try the DVC links at www.mouseplanet.com.

Points are usuable anytime, regardless of use year. If you bought 150 points with an October use year, you'd get 150 points to use in October, but the points could be used at any time that year (they could also be banked one year ahead or borrowed one year back). BTW, there is a fairly commom misperception, but you can make reservations on your points 11 months out as long as you will have the points to stay when you stay. So with an October use year, you don't need to wait until October to make reservations for a December trip.

Every January you will pay dues on your 150 points. Around $600 a year.

You'll want to check out a point chart to find out how far that 150 points will go at different times of year.

There are some additional things you "get" but none of it is guarenteed. You get a small discount on UPHs. You get some small discounts on some restaurants. You get pool hopping to most resorts at non-peak times. You get a quarterly magazine and regular emails on what is going on at Disney. Sometimes DVC sends you little things like postcards or posters or pins. You get to hang with the people here. (You can do that anyway).

Well, you get awesome accommodations at WDW! Anything other than that is a perk that can be added to or removed by Disney whenever they want.

You will want to base your decision solely on the accommodations and the costs involved. For us, it wasn't a case of saving money but of upgrading our accommodations and making our vacations much better than they were in the resort "hotel rooms".

Good luck and ask questions! :)
