Interesting, the President of Disney Vacation Club, Jim Lewis, has been fired right before Aulani opens. He has president of DVC since 2006.

From the Orlando Sentinal....

The president of Walt Disney Co.'s time-share business was fired Friday, according to several people familiar with the move.

A spokeswoman for Disney confirmed late Friday night that Disney Vacation Club President Jim Lewis was no longer with the company. She declined to discuss further details.

"We wish Jim Lewis well in his future endeavors and we plan to announce his successor in the near future," spokeswoman Rena Langley said.

Lewis had been president of Disney's time-share business since 2006.

The abrupt move comes only about two weeks before Disney opens one of its most ambitious time-share projects: Aulani, a Hawaiian resort with 460 Vacation Club units and 359 standard hotel rooms. It is the first major resort Disney has built away from its theme park properties.

This is so wrong. He is an awesome leader and I am so disappointed in Disney if this is true. He kept things going through a very serious economic time. If the housekeeper did this to him just remember karma sucks!

Come to the DVC forum, we have been discussing it for hours.

thanks! interesting thread....so i guess he was fired over aulani...
based on what's described about the "aulani screwup" he definitely deserved to be fired...if that's accurate, that's a screw up of monumental proportions...and deserves the kind of summary dismissal that this appears to be....

I'm just wishing that we get our old logo back and maybe stop the erosion of perks.

It certainly is an interesting thread. The Aulani screw up does sound major and deserving of announcing he was fired (unusual for Disney to say) instead of saying he resigned. Perhaps Disney's way of sending a mea culpa message to Hawaii so they can work things out.

When it all comes out, if it all comes out, someone will have been taking money they shouldn't have been taking.

And if anything, it could make for a great rant from Pete. :lmao:

One of my friends suggested the firing happened now, before D23 Expo, as a way to "clean house" and not get a repeat of Dick Cook's exit after the last D23 Expo.

I figure it's probably best to do this before the Expo, at any rate.
