DVC presentation??

Thanks for this thread. DH and I are thinking about doing a tour on our next trip. 6 days so I'm thinking we could give an hour or two. My mom passed up on the DVC several years ago (I'm still angry that my brother talked her out of it!!) So we may look into for our future.

My only DVC presentation in WDW was at Saratoga Springs in 2007. At the time, Disney's sole incentive for attending the presentation was what they described as an ice cream social (although some people received target offers that included Disney Dollars for their attendance). As others experienced, it was not a hard sell and there was minimal pressure. But around Christmas in 2012, we attended a DVC presentation at Aulani and what a contrast! The Aulani presentation was easily one of the highest pressured, hardest sells we've ever encountered. They made us wait over three hours for our return shuttle to the Waikiki area (this is a pretty common tactic among high pressured timeshare sales). Our shuttle bus driver told us that she had worked at DVC in WDW for over a decade, and she was one of the few actual Disney employees; most of the timeshare salespersons were contract employees. I've read plenty of reviews that have encountered a similar experience, and I suspect it's because of the incentive costs in Hawaii (we received tickets for a now defunct dinner cruise that had a street value of $400-$500).

Good reason to avoid ANY timeshare pitch. People should ask themselves why someone needs to resort to high pressure sales tactics if what they are selling is something desirable!!!

Sounds like it's an Aulani issue.

Like others, we didn't feel pressure at all during our DVC presentation at WDW. In fact, our salesperson told us we shouldn't sign up at the first meeting because we had just landed at WDW that day and were tired. She implored us to go back to our hotel and think about it, and call her if we decide to move forward.

they offered each of us the 3 FP and a $50 GC each.. (2 adult 2 children)
Clarification, please:
- Did each person get a $50 card? Well, each adult -- we don't have any children in our family at the moment.
- Is that 3 Fast Passes per person made for you -- or the chance to try for 3 Fast Passes? 'Cause if I could flat-out choose 3 Fast Passes (in addition to the 3 we'd already have), that might sway me! That's time saved in the parks.

A very good question!

My parents loved time share presentations, and we kids didn't mind -- typically in those days we kids were dropped off in a room full of arcade games, and this was in the days before home video games. If you understand the system, you can meet the hardest sell point-for-point.

The gift card is per group, not per person
The FPs are per person and are anytime multiple experiences ones that exclude the top "E Ticket" rides (FoP, 7 Dwarves, Star Wars Rides, Slinky, and probably a couple of others but not much more)

Every person in your reservation gets 3 FPs, even if they didn’t go to the presentation. The $50 only goes to each person who went to the presentation. The FPs are good for all but tier 1 rides.

I attended a presentation back in September of last year. I would agree with everyone else that it is super no pressure. I received a $50 credit for attending, but super bummed to hear I missed out on FP's, those were never offered. I really enjoyed getting a chance to look around a higher end hotel and the rooms inside and also did some pin trading while at it. Once it was over, they asked where we wanted to be dropped off and we hung out at Disney Springs for the afternoon.

I wanted to provide some more information about the FPs provided:

1. If they aren't offered, ask. They are VERY unlikely to say no to you. We got 3 FPs each for DH, myself, and everyone else in our party (even though DH and I were the only ones who went to the presentation). This happened at our initial tour and at the follow-up meeting when we signed up for DVC, so we actually ended up with 6 FPs per person for a weeklong trip to WDW.

2. The FPs are "multiple experience" ones that are good for all but the top tier rides. So nothing in Star Wars land or Toy Story land. Not good for Peter Pan, Seven Dwarfs, FoP, and maybe a couple others. However, we used them on Tower of Terror, Rock n rollercoaster, and many others. They really made the trip awesome.

3. You don't need to book these ahead of time. All you have to do is go straight up to the FP line at a qualifying attraction and scan your magic band. It's incredible.

I went with a friend while we were stranded down there for Dorian. It was low pressure and lasted all of an hour at the Boardwalk. They played a video I mentioned that I already owned, and the advisor said "oh well you know how this goes do you want to tour? or have questions?" we both went "nope" took our two $75 gift cards and went over to EPCOT. It was great.

ETA: We also got fastpasses!
