DVC & Premier AP?

Does DVC offer a discount on the Premier AP? We are planning on going to WDW and DL within 8 months of each other and thinking this is our best option for length we'll be staying...

I think he was asking about the Premier Pass and I don't believe there is a discount. At least when I was looking into it there wasn't. I think it was $700.

Nope, no discounts at all as far as I know. My BIL and nephew got them in May.

We got one in December and received no discount. The total is $722.75 with Florida tax (which you pay even is you buy at DL).

You can get a discount if you go to WDW first by buying a MYW ticket from an authorized discounter, using it to enter the park then upgrading it to an AP with Disney "bridging" the price you paid to the gate price, then upgrading that to the Premier. A word of warning, though, there are a couple of long threads on the Theme Parks board that "bridging" doesn't always work and even if it does, might involve some time and energy. So you have to decide if the possible discount is worth the potential extra effort. And this doesn't work at all if you first visit is to DL.

The good news about the Premier AP is that, like the Premium APs at both WDW and DL, the 20% merchandise discount has been extended through 2011. Enjoy -- Suzanne.

On a similar note, does anyone know if the Premier pass get the same discounts as the DL Premium (like @ the QS)?

Yes, the Premier Pass gets the same discounts at DLR as the premium AP does.

And food. Don't forget at Disneyland there really isn't a dining plan, but the Premium (Premier) AP's get a 15% discount on all food. Enjoy!

I have a Premier Passport - and just be forewarned - alot of CMs look at it weirdly as I don't think there are alot out there. You often have to clarify that it's the same as a PAP for whatever discount might be available at the time.

You really have to run the numbers to make sure it will benefit you. I knew exactly how many days I needed to spend at each park to make it worth it. I barely spent enough days at DL to make it worth it. A WDW PAP plus a DL park ticket was almost the same price, just a little savings with the Premier Passport. Course - I still have several months on the pass - so who knows - I might go back to DL again!

We live in Southern California and our deluxe APs expired several months ago. We're planning a trip to WDW in September and also want to renew our APs. After I ran the numbers, it's definitely worth it for us to purchase premier passes, even though we're only traveling to WDW once this year. I added up the total cost of park hoppers, deluxe annual passes and parking add on at DL. I also took into consideration what we spend on food and souvenirs at DL. All things considered we'll end up coming out ahead.

Next summer (2012) we will be going to Disneyland for our son's birthday, which is August 5th. So I'm trying to decide if we should buy a Premier AP versus renewing our WDW APs and just buying regular Disneyland admission. We are planning on being at DL for 4-5 nights. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Thanks, that helps a lot. It seems like it would be cheaper for us to renew our APs to WDW (with our DVC discount) and just pay out of pocket for DL admission. Plus, I noticed there is no child price on the Premier AP. Both adult and child are priced at $700. Both our kids are under age 9, so we would pay the child's price for both the DL admission and their WDW AP. Thanks again!

We are also trying to figure out whether it is better to get the Premier or just regular tickets.

We will be at DLR in June 2011 for 3-4 days. WDW 5-6 days in November. Then maybe back at DLR in December for 3 days, and back again to DLR next June 2012 for 3-4 days.

However, it is altogether possible that without any kind of annual pass, we would only go to DLR once instead of twice or three times. If I spent the money on the passes for four, then you bet we'd go again to break even.

What is the break-even amount of days at DLR if 5-6 days are spent at WDW?

The cheapest 4-day hoppers I can find at DLR are $196 adults, plus a $2 fee each, so $198. If we had two trips to DLR, that would be roughly $400. Leaving $322.25 for WDW. I have non-expiry 10-day hoppers that were $500 each, or $250 for 5 days.

So maybe it's still not worth it unless we go to DLR 3x?

So I do think that there is no one answer to the break even question re: Premier AP. However, I decided to get really analytical with this (probably a little too much so). Wanted to share my findings.

First I went and averaged an appetizer, drink and entree at each of the places we'd be eating on our WDW trip. Then I added columns to apply the TIW, AP or DVC discount for each of these places. I realized that with the TIW we'd be saving about 110 per adult. Since we are spending 9 days at WDW in fall 2011 and 5 days at DL in Spring of 2012, I figured out the passes we'd buy. Came to approx $530 per adult. So the difference would be ~200 per adult. I tried to guestimate how much we'd spend on food at DL as well as souviners and what potential savings we'd have.

We decided that it made sense for one of us to get the Premier AP & TIW - probably my DH since he does the food runs while I stalk for open tables or he has his wallet more readily available.
