I just started doing research. And am confusing myself more than when I started I think. If I travel August and February, what would be my best UY?
I have been really interested in a Beach club resale but hate the idea that it expires in 2042. So my second thought is a copper creek resale for the extended deed. I am not as keen on the area but do like the longer deed.
Lastly, I'm torn between resale and new if I choose copper creek. I realize I will get a better value on resale but are the perks better with new? Ugh....why is this so hard!?
Any help/ thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

I'm terrible on the UY decisions so I can't really help there. As far as where if you really love BCV that much I would go with that. 22 years is still a long time. You could always buy two contracts also... maybe buy one direct at CCV to get the perks and buy another at BCV via resale. Just a thought. Good Luck on whatever you decide.

Feb or Aug UY for those travel times as it means any cancellations or changes give you the best options for banking or scheduling Again,

In terms of resort, I still say that you buy at a place you are okay if you can’t trade out. I am not sure if CCV is a good choice if you are. Already not keen on it.

With two trips a year, the AP cost with a direct buy may make going that way worth it, depending on family size,

With regards to the UY question, I too travel in the Fall and Winter/Spring. I looked at the banking deadlines to help me decide. For a February UY, you have until September 30th to bank any points you're not going to use for the remainder of the year. That might work well for you in that you say that you travel in both Feb and August. For me I went with a September UY because it meant a banking deadline of April 30th for any unused points. Because I rarely would ever travel in May-August, that window made sense for me. I hope this helps!

Is BCV your favourite because of theme/location/pool?
if it’s just location then BWV is cheaper and has lower point chart although BCV does have slightly lower dues.

If you want a MK resort then BLT/PVB are cheaper than resale CCV and have a lot of years left as does VGF but that is a bit higher cost.

For me if first time buying, UY not too much of a concern. Your travels are 6 months apart. August or a February might be equally good.

With two a trips a year, it might worth buying direct, depending on how many people are traveling. If you live in FL, maybe not because you could get a gold AP anyway.

BCV will be difficult to book at 7 months, though maybe you get lucky sometimes with those travel dates. If you don't even want your home resort advantage, there's always good ole SSR resale (or OKW direct).

This is hard because there are a lot of choices, and not all of them will be right for your family.

We are a family of 4 and primarily travel in August. My husband is a teacher. I would like the option of possibly doing the February break trip too. We have only done that one a few times.

We were thinking long term in that our kids are younger now...11 and 8 and would probably enjoy that pool and location the most as they got older. There is a specific BCV resale I'm eyeing. 300 pts for $138 ppt. It caught my eye and sort of got this ball rolling.

February or August. Do you favor one time of year of the other? If so, choose a UY that corresponds with that time. Do you ever see yourself traveling any other time of year? Would you ever travel in Oct-Dec or Mar-May? For example, If you think you'll ever travel Oct-Dec, pick an Aug UY. Your banking window closes 4/30 with an Aug UY, as opposed to 9/30 with a Feb UY. If you think you'll ever travel Mar-May, choose February.

If you really love Beach Club, book there. 22 years is still a long time. You could always add on later for a contract with a longer expiration. If expiration matters more, then pick a resort that you'll be happy being stuck at and purchase there instead.

As for buying direct at Copper Creek - the biggest advantage is being able to pick up a Fixed Week and especially a runDisney fixed week (if that's your thing). If you travel during the Princess runDisney event in February, this could be great in order to guarantee a room should you decide to travel there. August, though, is not usually super difficult to secure reservations.

Also, direct gives you access to the AP discounts and the ability to book at Riviera and future resorts.

this one is $130 for 250 points

or 300 points at $135

for both of these I would negotiate on price and dues., always look at total cost.

Those are great too! Thanks for sharing. I'm studying both now. I'm trying to navigate the bidding process too. I appreciate all the help and tips!
No harm at starting at $120 with 2020 dues covered and go from there.
good luck

Obviously make sure you want BCV first though 👍😀

Assuming APs exist again, you could stagger your trips to do late aug/feb/early aug and get an AP every two years, even the AP discount wouldn't be worth much. Direct has some other benefits like the future resorts, a merch discount, a few events that don't currently exist and were hard to get into.

I found this chart very helpful:

You can see that BCV is much more expensive. For 300 points, this is a significant difference. You have to decide whether it's worth risking it with cheap SSR points or paying a premium for BCV to stay where you want. (In non-Covid times), you should be able to book something in August, just maybe not Beach Club, and probably never BCV studios.

I'd vote Feb UY because banking deadline is end of Sep, which sounds like it would work for most of your travel. But UY is a minor consideration to me, I'd take a good deal over UY for a first purchase.

Keep in mind that it is getting more and more difficult to book studios at CCV, even if you book as soon as the 11 month window opens. This is due to the large number of small contracts sold and the large number of points allocated to cabins. IOW, more owners want the studios than can be accommodated, and it's a first come, first served system. It often boils down to whose computer communicates the fastest with the booking system.

If you are planning on studios and don't want a fixed week, my advice is is to NOT buy CCV.

Understanding Use Year

I concur with CCV being a tough spot if you are a studio family. I think it’s easier to start out as a resale member, at favorite resort choice, at a point total to match travel plans. Easier to add on a direct contract later. For my preference with pricing, my direct minimum add on, to flash the blue card, when/if decide, would be OKW, SSR, or AKV.

I would prefer 1bdrm's. We like a bit of separation of space. But this is all good info! Stuff I wouldn't know or think about.

For me, use year wasn't that important buying resale first time. I just wanted to get the best deal for the amount of points I wanted. Also make sure you look at the point charts at each resort. I know you said you liked 1 bedrooms, there can be a significant difference in the amount of points needed depending on the resort. Also if you don't like CCV that much I'd look at other resorts because you'd be paying a premium for CCV points.

I think you are referring to CCV 1BR’s but just to note that both CCV/ BCV 1BR’s sleep 4 but BCV studios sleep 5 (pull down small bed)
