DVC Polos: cheap, yet expensive

Last week at BW I saw the member polos for sale and was surprised at their dull look and high cost. A single thread color logo on an average shirt, yet they sell for $50+?

I do 5 color large logos on top end polos for my work and they run $29 at cost. I doubt the DVC shirt/logo cost is more than $19. Quite a mark-up for something that's not very attractive.

How about the multicolor DVC logo on a good quality shirt instead?

I agree that the shirts are big bucks - the thread quality is decent but no way I would pay that much for a short sleeve polo style shirt especially one that advertises!

thanks

I have been disappointed overall with the poor quality and high cost of DVC items. The polo shirts, especially, did not wear well. They shrink, the collars get all foldy and funky and they just start coming apart at the seams after a couple washings.

I purchased 2 polo shirts for my Dad at VB a few years ago. They were very nice-almost like they were a silk/cotton blend. They have really held up well. They only had a small logo on the chest and sleeve.

They don't sell these anymore at VB. I was very sad to learn this.

All they have are the plain cotton ones that look like they have already been through the wash a few times with huge logos on them or a generic logo about DVC and nothing specific to VB.
:(

That was my one disappointment with our recent trip to BCV. I was dying to buy something attractive with a small DVC or BCV logo. All I could find were masculine looking polo shirts, a navy sweatshirt, and a windbreaker, and as I recall, they looked sorta like walking billboards. And, the polo shirts were just OLD looking.

I'm convinced there's money to be made. (I know I had some I wanted to get rid of.) If only they'd listen. :listen:

306 days and counting . . . again!

Not that we needed them, but we bought the Members are Magical coffee mugs yesterday. At $10 each, they are reasonably priced. I told DH that there was mention of new merchandise coming out on these boards, and we'll wait for something better. However, DH said, that we always seems to carry our Delphi bag, company DH works for, and the next time he wants us to bring the Member backpack, we've never been backpack types, but I guess we're going to learn!

He was just as thrilled as I was about the puchase into DVC after this weekend stay!

The price of DVC merchandise is a real sore spot with me. It is one area where I think DVC or possibly WDW is really trying to cash in on our DVC loyalty and obsession. The DVC/VWL logo shirt was $52.00. That is at least $10.00 too high IMO.

I purchased a nice blue coloured golf shirt with Boardwalk on the pocket .
it is getting faded now and I have not been able to get a satisfactory replacement.
This year's were so poor .
Please help I don't want to scare anybody by going without.

I think good quality, reasonably priced DVC merchandise would fly off the shelves.

I also think resort specific merchandise would sell well. There was very little VB merchandise at VB last time we were there.

DVC could make a lot of money with the right merchandise. Do they not realize this?

I have bought wonderful shirts on ebay for a lot less than $50. My favorite is a polo with a DVC embroidered logo on front, VWL + logo on the sleeve, and a wand, stars and Own a piece of the magic on the back. I paid $23.00. (size XL)

I wish they would come up with a nice polo shirt for women. I have been disappointed with the DVC shirts. They have huge logos on the back, not something I would wear outside of WDW. I have a nice navy & green cable knit sweater that I bought in the OKW store about 5 years ago, it has the DVC mountain logo but says OKW. I also bought the navy DVC jacket earlier this year, that is still in the stores.
