DVC points for Disneyland Hotel

I have always prided myself in understanding exactly how my DVC works, but for once I am at a loss and I need some help. I am looking at possibly using my DVC points at the Disneyland Hotel for next January, Star Wars Marathon, since it appears getting GCV at 7 months will be for all intensive purposes impossible.

What I know:
-Usually using DVC points for a non-DVC is not a good deal, but Disneyland isn't THAT bad, and there is no $95 fee, like other Disney Collection options
-I have to book it 3 months prior to my use year ending
-Once booked if I need to cancel I can only deposit them into RCII, which once I book I would be sure NOT to cancel. (I would have hoped already to have registered for the race)


What I don't know
-Can I borrow points for a Disney Collection stay? I rotate between three home resorts, basically, bank/current year/borrow for the 11 months, and this year is Wilderness Lodge, some of my WLV points I am going to use for WLV and use to book in two weeks, if I can't borrow for Disneyland collection then I will borrow for my WLV stay, basically I will make it work either way but knowing now would satisfy my "analyze all possibilities until I am blue in the face" mindset.

-IF I can borrow how does the 3 months prior to the use year ending? Is it the use year of the borrowed points? I am guessing if I was using current use year (September) that means I would have to make the reservation by June 1st correct? But what about borrowed points, does that mean I could book whenever I wanted (obviously assuming availability)?

-Stupid question but if I book with points do I still get regular maid service? I am guessing I would but not entirely sure.

-Anything else I should know? Has anyone done this before, any advice? I have done some searching and it looks like a few people have done this before and been happy with the choice, but I am open for any and all other view points.

The rule of 4 does not apply at Disneyland, so you can book up to the end of your use year.

You can borrow points.

You get regular maid service.

Big question - did you buy direct or resale? If resale after 3/21/11, you cannot book Disney Collection.

I'm not sure if you can deposit points from a cancelled reservation to RCI, I thought they became "reservation points" and could only be used for hotel rooms in the Disney Collection.

Ok, goes to show how you should never trust information on the internet Thanks for the info! Only one of our contracts is resale and its from 2007 so we are good in that regards.
