DVC points an Resort Question

We are thinking hard on joining the DVC, we have been making yearly WDW trips and think DVC may be for us. We have 1 major question which I am having trouble finding on my own. Can you use your points to stay at other non DVC Disney resorts? We will be staying at POFQ this year and were wondering if you can use the points for the MODs/Values etc. We have not tried all the disney resorts and would like the chance to try some others we have considered n the past. Any help would be useful, our province dosn't allow time shares so we would have to travel to Maine or Ontario to sign a DVC contract. We can't even order the video from Disney, they won't send it.

You can use points for Deluxe and Moderate resorts, but not at the Value resorts. It is not a good use of points however, as the nightly rate is quite high (from 18 to 45 points a night at the moderates) and you have to pay a $95 fee for the "privilege". It us generally cheaper to pay cash for the non-DVC resorts.

Once you stay DVC your hooked. Its a addiction. We stated out just like you yearly visits to non dvc resorts. Then we joined DVC and thought a studio was all we ever wanted. Then we tried a 1 bedroom and could not go back now we are up to 2 bedrooms. We have also added on twice to feed our addiction. Just remimber one thing NO one will under stand you except other DVC members not your family or friends. They just don't get it. Take the plung you will love it.

Agree with previous poster.

My family started out taking my daughter 6 years ago annually. First to All Star Movies and then to POFQ. We then purchased DVC without even going to the promotion tour and seeing the property. We have stayed at BC, AKL Concierge, SSR, a cruise on the Wonder and an upcoming cruise on the Dream with a joint stay at BLT. Our original time is at SSR. We added some points on our stay at SSR this April just to be able to have 11 month out capability at BLT.

Also, very true, no one will understand your love besides the fellow DVCers.

We have several friends that just went to WDW and are now thinking DVC.
