DVC point price increase..

I was called by my guide, Bernard, today.

I've been in contact with him because I'm in the process of closing a resale at BWV that I bought at TTS. I want to immediately add another 50-60 points. Well...according to Bernard, he got the call last night that the price increase will take effect April 1st. If I close before the 1st and get on a waiting list, Disney will honor the current price ( $98.00 PP ) if I close after, the new cost will be ( $104.00 )...Of course, my current closing date is April 9th

He said that the point prices were going up across the board- with the exception of Vero Beach and HH. OKW is going up $5.00 PP. I didn't ask for specifics on the rest.

Just a heads up if you are on the fence about adding points..

Tammy,
I took your advice and called Bernard just a few minutes ago, he is also my guide, and I asked about a OKW add on. I was able to get 2, 50 point contracts, Sept uy for the $96.  He said the increase happened last week, now $101, but just for me:rotfl: :rotfl: I would be able to the old price. I took it like a trout going after a fly, grandkid after a candy bar, or me adding on more DVC points. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Monty

I have done add-on during a price increase. Once you give them your CC for deposit you are locked into the old price unless it takes more than 12 months to get the points...

Thanks for the info jcf. I was hoping that this would be the case. I'll check with my guide to make sure we're on the same page!

You have to remember WDW and DVC both are not solely intended for the "US" market. Canadians will find now being a great time to buy DVC with teh current exchange rates, as will people from the UK. Both of these areas are huge patrons of WDW and can easily help keep Disney afloat during down times in the US economy. They can merely shift their marketing to those that come from the UK and Canada, to help fill resorts and spur sales in DVC.

I know that was a big factor in our purchase as Canadians. My first trip to WDW was in 2000 for the Millenium Celebration. I remember taking a look at DVC at that time. I didn't remember the price off the top of my head, but from the thread that shows the price history, DVC was selling for $67 a point in the fall of 2000. The exchange rate that fall was $1.55CDN for every $1US. That meant that DVC was selling for $104/pt in Canadian dollars. With the dollar on par right now, DVC is selling for $104/pt CDN. So effectively in 7 1/2 years, the DVC price has not increased for Canadians. I think Disney will shift its marketing and do just fine. In fact, we're talking add on right now. Who knows what the dollar will do, but if it retreats again, a big part of our vacation was prepaid at a good price.

I just talked with my guide about adding on points and he said the price increase was happening on March 13...

I was told the same thing yesterday. I was also told that they would honor the $98/pt cost to add on at BWV that I was quoted on February 28th.

Just added OKW that "supposedly" already had a price increase but he pulled some strings :wizard: to get me the $96. No biggie I like my guide he is a good guy and has been helpful. I do like the 2007 pts and being able to bank them even though it is passed bank time :thumbsup2

Yeah he did say that the increase for BWV and BCV was taking place on Thur. Yeah I got him to give me another bag too, I'm so special :rotfl2:

The doorway to dreams is the only way to go.
I don't want to brag but I've made a friend at this store and he (David) has showered me with gifts every time I go there with the kids.

Last weekend he gave us the Disney H20 shampoo and conditioner as a handout.

When we added on our points we got the incentives I mentioned but also got the standard issue tote bag but I didn't want to let this cat out of the bag...we got a mickey mouse hat box.
Yep, red, black and yellow very nice. I think these are limited editions for special guests who add on ppts at the store.

The store is unbelievable, its' a full mock up of annimal kingdom villas with a mural for the savannah view. Flat screen TV's no corners cut here.

If anyone is in the Chicago area stop by Woodfield Mall by Nordstrom's on the 2nd floor is Doorway to Dreams store and ask for David, tell him mousemania sent you and don't be afraid to ask for the H20 shampoo and conditioner, don't let him hold out on you.

What does your friend have to say about KTV?

We paid $104 a point a year ago when we did our AKV add-on. I think this must be only for sold out resorts.

Do they always increase every year? I can see these points prices start to become very high in the near future. It hasn't been a year yet since I closed on my BWV contract. I purchased at $79/pt. Even with paying closing, I have saved $4000 from retail!! I just can't imagine why anyone would want to pay these new prices. JMHO. :goodvibes

IMHO you scored a great deal. congrats!

KTV:
They don't say anything about it, I don't think they know anything.
THey are so removed from FL how would they know.

They are focussed on selling SSR and AKV and the incentives on these are great that's why I"m surprised at the people buying older resorts for add ons.

This store is amazing, consider adding ppts here and fly in to Chicago see this store. The staff is amazing.

What is the latest deal at Doorway to Dreams in Chicago? Has it changed, since the other incentives from Disney have changed?

So what kind of commission are you getting? :lmao:

:rotfl2: Pretty funny! But seriously, unless one is doing a very small add-on, I can't see why anyone would pay Disney's prices? Keeping all the contracts in one UY is not enough justification for the price differences. It really isn't that hard having different master contracts......actually there are advantages. Just don't get it.

I sent my guide an email and she said the new prices are:

BCV & BWV - $ 104
VWL & OKW - $ 101
HHI & VB - $ 87 (Min 50 points purchase)

She said the price increases are already in effect, as of March 7. Is that what everyone else is hearing?

Very interesting! Did she mentioned SSR or AKV?

Tjkraz posted on his site that all the new prices take affect April 1st. He said no prices have been disclosed yet for SSR and AKV. Looks like they brought BWV up to the same price as BCV. Very interesting.

Also, don't forget that while the Economy may be down, there are always industries that are up. This can also be a market for Disney to tap.

DONT FORGET THE FRENCH.

The French will finally be able to buy something outside their own country now that the dollar is falling in value. And if you consider that they only work 28-30 hours a week and they get 10+ weeks a year off for Holiday, it is obvious that Disney is directly targeting them. What with their incredible buying power and tons of free downtime, the parks will be crawling with French. It will remind the old timers of England and Spain when those ingenius Germans figured out that the Maginot Line ended instead of protecting the entire border. :rotfl2:

Good news is that if we see any French Nationals in the parks we can now turn the tables on them and act Snooty to them.
