I was called by my guide, Bernard, today.

I've been in contact with him because I'm in the process of closing a resale at BWV that I bought at TTS. I want to immediately add another 50-60 points. Well...according to Bernard, he got the call last night that the price increase will take effect April 1st. If I close before the 1st and get on a waiting list, Disney will honor the current price ( $98.00 PP ) if I close after, the new cost will be ( $104.00 )...Of course, my current closing date is April 9th

He said that the point prices were going up across the board- with the exception of Vero Beach and HH. OKW is going up $5.00 PP. I didn't ask for specifics on the rest.

Just a heads up if you are on the fence about adding points..

Great info, Tammy. Thanks for the word of warning. Be interesting to see what happens in the resale market once the points go up at Dis.

For those who have been lurking around the boards for some time, does that mean that both resale contracts and ROFR floor go up as well? Just curious, as I assume they would!

Does anyone know if DVC will honor the current price for everyone who is on the wait list to add on points even though the price is due to go up soon?

Well, that will make the resale market that much more attractive. With the loss of the great freebie developer points (replaced by $500 GC that are really not as good of a deal), I would think most everyone would buy resale for add ons at this point, unless you need access to the points in 24 hours.

So far, following the ROFR thread, I am seeing a decrease in resale prices of about $3-$4. Maybe that will change when the price increase takes effect.

We are purchasing 60 more BWV points and placed money down with our credit just last week. We will finish the rest of the paperwork when we are at Disney in another week. Our Guide contacted us and said that we lucked out as the cost per point at BWV was just raised from $98 to $104.00. I took that as the price has ALREADY JUMPED UP. But I could be wrong. Can anyone clarify this? If the cost per point had not already jumped up maybe we should buy a few more now.

If OKW is going up $5.00PP what was it ?

Is that the old or the extender contract ?

:cool1:

DVC raised it's pricing for OKW to $96 once the extension was offered - so it sounds like it's now going up to $101. DVC is only selling contracts with the 2057 expiration date.

Do you think the price increase may have anything to do with a possible extension on the end date of the other DVCI resorts?

I don't really. It's been a year now since the last price increase and it was time to do so again. I wouldn't read anything else into this increase except that they can.

According to my guide, there is no such thing as a wait list for adding on points. Your guide may keep a private list, but it's not official through Disney.

That's a big jump in price. There have been three price hikes at BWV since I first started looking into DVC, beginning in June 2005 when it went from $89 to $92. Since then there have been two more annual increases, again $3 each: $92->$95->$98. So this is the biggest price increase at BWV in at least three years.

ETA: It's odd that they are increasing prices this much at a time when they seem to be easing a bit on ROFR levels for BWV and some of the other resorts.

I am inclined to think that this also has something to do with KTV. Posturing for whatever the price of that thing is going to be when it comes out.
???????????????????:confused3

and AKV Kidani and GCV... Hopefully they will start selling this year, other wise we may see another $3-5 increase before we can purchase...

I'm in agreement with Lisa in that this is a rather large increase compared to years past and it would direct my attention to resales if I were currently in the market for more points.

Are SSR and AKV increasing as well or just the sold-out resorts??

TIA

I guess DVC has no regard for the state of the economy. I would think one of the last things people could justify spending more money on is pre paid vacations. The state of the U.S. dollar seems to be of no concern to Disney. I guess park ticket prices will be next. Is Disney completely unaffected by the slowing economy, rising oil prices, declining stock market, etc.? How was Disney effected after 9 - 11? I wasn't really into WDW then as I am now.

Technically, wasn't the price already at $104--just that you had an $8 (AKV) or $10 (SSR) discount per point? Has anyone bought any of the other resorts directly from Disney in the past few months when the discount for AKV/SSR was in effect and if so, how much did you pay per point?
