DVC point for Hawaii?

We just joined the DVC and have our next three summers planned out. We would like to go to Hawaii in 2010. Has anyone used the World Passport Collection for Hawaii? If you did how far in advance did you have to book the vacation? Any suggestions? Thanks.

We did use it several years ago. We started the search two years ahead, but agreed to accept the Kona Coast II resort just a week later. We had searched for ANY island except Oahu, ANY time between Jan.1 and June 1, and got the begining of May. We love Hawaii, and esepcially the Big Island of Hawaii, so we were happy to accept KCII. We also traded another timeshare for Princeville, Kauai and got that exchange for the week preceeding. That second exchange was through RCI, and took a LOT longer to get. We didn't get it until about 6 months before.

For II exchanges it's best to start the search 2 years out but reasonable to try starting a year out or just under. Just remember that every unit that gets deposited prior to you searching is that much less chance of your success. Investigate the resorts and decide what you want then get it started as early as possible. Your chance of success depends on how flexible you are in terms of when, how many weeks, how many resorts (and which islands) and the unit size that will work for you.

Do any of you do direct owner exchanges? I own 7000 Plat points at the new HGVC Waikoloa Resort w/ access to HILTON Waik Village- (Beautiful resort)Also own at HYatt Key West- Havent felt the need to go to Disney World as I always visit Disneyland- (I live in california) But the new Animal Kingdom Villas look truly amazing- More importantly, my daughters have been constantly asking to go- I have considered purchasing but thought it might be wiser to xchange or rent- perhaps 2009 or 2010?--If not- does Disney have an exchange site?

Disney does not have an exchange site, but there is an exchange board here on the DIS (DVC rent/trade board).

We submitted a request two years in advance for this past December (week after Christmas over New Year's). We knew it was unlikely to get an exchange for the holidays but figured we would try. We ended up getting two calls, one in early Nov and one in early Dec. We ended up not going b/c airfare was outrageous by then. We also missed the Dec. call b/c we were enjoying the BCV at the time and it was too late by the time we got home.
