I'm more of a Facebook person, but I do have a Pinterest account. It just got a bit more interesting with DVC's announcement of a Pinterest contest September 16 to November 4th. So, who's in? I'm going to try. I thought that we could post links to our boards here. Anyone interested in sharing your boards?

Details are here: http://www.shareyourdvcmemories.com/

Here is a sample Pinterest Board posted by DVC:

So the board does NOT need to be called share your memories?

I found this confusing, so I'm not really sure. Here is the link to the official rules: http://www.shareyourdvcmemories.com/Rules

Here is what the rules say about he Pinterest contest:

i. create a board on the Entrant’s Pinterest account called “Share Your Memories (“Board”);
ii. pin images that represent the Entrant’s interpretation of “The perfect Disney Vacation Club vacation”; and
iii. after completing his/her Board as set forth above, logon to the Website, submit his/her e-mail address and submit the URL to his/her Board (“Pinterest Entry”).

The confusion for me was that the sample provided is titled "My Disney Itinerary". I titled my board "Share Your Memories".

After you sign up for the contest (have your DVC member number on hand) you are given a spot to put in the link to your Pinterest Board. I never saw anything telling me to name it something in particular, though I see above they tell you to in the small print. It's easy to change the name of the board by editing it. You do not have to link it right away either, you can go open a Pinterest account and start the board before submitting it.

My DS and I had an hour waiting for my other DS in tutoring yesterday. We had a lot of fun thinking of all our favorite things to do at WDW and creating the board. I even included a discounted PAP :rotfl:

I just find this whole thing confusing. I only just dipped my toe in Pinterest and still haven't totally figured out Facebook..is there a Pinterest primer somewhere? What's the goal of the contest? just a bunch of your vacation photos? I really don't get what they are looking for:confused3

Between Pinterest and Instagram, Disney is going to get THOUSANDS of photo submissions from members. According to the terms and conditions of the contest, participants are basically giving Disney free reign to use those photos in marketing and promotional literature indefinitely.

To Disney, I'm sure there's tremendous value in being able to draw from thousands of submissions, most featuring families having a fantastic vacation and gushing about how wonderful Disney Vacation Club has been.

Totally doing this. All you do is create a board on Pinterest. Put your pictures on there and then send them the URL at the end of the contest.

OK..I gave it a shot to practive my Pinterest skills (or lack thereof). Did I miss how many pictures you were supposed to have? Didn't want to go crazy.

I'm giving Pinterest a try, too. I don't really know what I'm doing, but it doesn't look like there is a minimum or maximum number of pins required for the contest. I'm trying to figure out if there is any way to reorganize the pins once I place them on a board.

BTW: That is a nice board you designed, nunzia!

I added your board to the list int he first post! Hopefully others will post their boards too.

I don't think there is a specific number of pins. It does appear that some sort of judging of the pin boards will occur to determine the winner though.

Are they supposed to be your own pictures or random pics from the internet based on what your dream trip would be?

Hope you all read the rules thouroughly. I was gung-ho about this contest until I made my way thru the rules and decided I had no chance of winning. Some include no Stock Photos (you must own the rights to any photos posted) and no random people (must have permissions from everyone in the photo).

But good luck to anyone who enters and looking forward to the results.

I knew it wasn't as easy as it sounds. So many times there are other people in the background. Time to really crop our photos.

Whats funny is how the point of pinterest is to pin random photos of interest that are online. At least that is how i see it.
I went over the rules and its not just pick a random entry, they have judges to choose based on creativity and relevence to dvc etc.

Thanks! I have no clue if things can be organized either..need to learn much more about Pinterest I see :)

I looked at mine and think I'm ok. The only identifiable people are my people..and Disney cast members, so hope it's ok. All the pictures on my board I took, so no stock pictures either.

Has anyone else decided to try this? I am planning on participating. I'm still trying to determine whether or not I can only use my own photos. Do you think photos from the Disney site are allowed? The fine print is tripping me up! Thanks!
