DVC/Parking?

I have a question about parking and I am hoping someone will be able to help me with it. I know that when we run over to the Boardwalk from the VWL for dinner we have our parking pass and let them know we are having dinner and can park since we are DVC members. My question is this. Our first day this year we are staying at a moderate and arriving early afternoon. We would like to head over to EPCOT to enjoy supper and the fireworks and I would really like to drive. As a DVC member, can we show our membership card and have parking privileges at say the Boardwalk or Beach Club? Thanks!

Not really sure. Someone else may have a definite answer.

I do know you're not suppose to use the resort parking lots for going to the theme parks. Even though you'd only be there a few hours, Epcot is open later than the other theme parks, and those guests staying at BWV or BCV who are coming back from another park, would find their parking lot full if outsiders all parked in these lots.

If they allowed parking just by showing the blue card, it would let anyone who is a member park there, whether they're Florida locals, a DVC member staying off-site somewhere, or staying at a non-DVC resort such as yourselves. During busy times of the year, they can get pretty strict about this.

The exception is they may let you park there since you will have a WDW parking pass from your moderate resort. They may let you in with that. DVC member privileges are really only applicable to the member when they are starying at a DVC resort, on points.

You would be able to park at Epcot free of charge because you have a resort parking pass. Since you are not staying at BWV or BCV on points (or cash for that matter), or dining there, you are not eligible to park there just to go to a theme park.

If you were dining at BC or YC or on the BW,you should be able to get a three hour pass by giving the guard your ADR info-this is the case with any guest -not just DVC.

However, here is where I think people get a bit confused: when you are staying at WDW as a DVC member on points at any WDW DVC resort, you have free VALET parking at any of the DVC resorts. A nice tip is customary.

You can park for free in the Epcot lot. You could also use your DVC card to valet park at Boardwalk or BC. Boardwalk also has an unguarded lot across the street, on the same side as the gas station. Parking in the main Boardwalk or Beach Club lot is not for going to theme parks, they need to have spaces for people staying there or dining at the resort.

What would be considered a NICE tip? Just wondering. :confused3

But you are not supposed to park at another resort (even DVC resort) to go to a park!

The tipping should be anywhere from $2-$5 when you pick up the car. Some people on these boards give $5 each way.....its up to you. (Maybe $5 if its raiing, etc.) There have been a lot of discussion threads on the tipping question.

Thanks guys, think we'll just take the bus. We are checking into the BCV the next day anyway. Just wanted to find out for sure before we made our plans for the first night.

I'm hijacking this thread to ask a parking question, please ..

If I am staying at AKL on points, is my valet parking at AKL for free? If it's not, then once I pay, I know I can park at other resorts without a charge. But if it is free, can I park at BC or BW for dinner for free or not?

In other words .. how does valet parking work if you are staying at a non DVC resort on points?

I don't mind paying if I should, I just don't want to pay if I don't have to. :) That 7 bucks a day adds up!

No, valet parking is only free if you are a DVC member and are talking about DVC resorts that have valet or for a handicapped person, you don't even have to be staying on property to get it. You also get free valet (I think) if you are using DDE for meals at that resort.
