I have been sucked into this in a huge way! I came across this site a week ago, tried to buy points for a stay in May 2003 and that didn't work. Now I think I need to buy into this like the rest of you!

Question is this: anyone know of an 800# to call DVC and have information sent to me about ownership? I tried the link through the Disney website and it's not working.

I NEED BWV! :earseek: This place is just perfect for my family.

This link should work

Thanks for the replies. The link still doesn't work but I'll call later tonight. A new question now.....lol.....do they offer any kind of incentive to come down there and take a tour and listen to the sales pitch? Reduced hotel rates, park passes etc? I would like to buy into this for a BWV May 2003 stay ASAP but I absolutely won't buy until I see it. Who knows?! I may discover that BWV aren't for my family after all and want OKW.

There are no incentives for coming down for the tour. We actually bought sight unseen 2 years ago and even added on, all before we actually stayed at one of the DVC resorts. Our only regret, we didn't do it sooner. We are looking to add on again, actually. The tour and sales tactics of the DVC are much different than any other timeshare and I actually am glad. They are very low key and do not want to high pressure anyone. They will send you the information and video and assign you to a guide to answer any additional questions. Otherwise you won't get anyone pestering you.

No, Tinkrbell, that's not us on the video. Most of us on this board are pretty enthusiastic about our DVC, however. It is truly a great way to vacation.

Margaritabnl,
Someone correct me if I am wrong, you can only buy BWV thru resell @ this time. This site is sponsored by The Timeshare Store and they have BWV for resell. You can buy from Disney , the Beach Club Villas, opening in July (they are offering some incentives such as $70 per point until 6/1/02). Feel free to ask a lot of questions on this board, they are a great source of info. We too are wanting to buy. Good Luck!

You can call 1-800-800-9100 and request the free video and information packet. There won't be any follow up pressure for anything.

On your next trip to WDW, just plan some time to take the DVC tour.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the help everyone! I am aware I can only get BWV through a resale. I discovered that and much more through this site! I want the entire DVC package from Disney so I can see all the owner benefits, fees, etc.

We have been to WDW in 1995, 1997, and 2000. Not too shabby considering the kids are 7 and 10. After our last trip to WDW in 2000 I put us on a family ban to Orlando. I was just ready for something different. Then we ended up at The Hard Rock Hotel for a week May 2001 and did Universal and I of A and Sea World since the kids were big enough for everything finally. It was hard being so close to WDW and not having the time to get over there  !

With us, all it takes is someone mentioning WDW and we are itchy to go back. Sure enough, friends went 2 weeks ago, my sister said last week she wants to go next year and asked us to go with her. So here I am and Jamaica will have to wait another year!

The amazing thing about all of this is that we went from pricing POFQ, 2 days later I was trying to rent points for BWV, and today we are thinking of BUYING into DVC!!!! Don't ask me how I found this board...I have no clue! I followed a link about onsite hotel discounts and here I am. A DIS Board addict! :D

As far as incentives go, in February when we bought, if you scheduled your appointment during the day, mid-morning to mid-afternoon, you got a couple of vouchers for meals at the counter service restaraunts. You might ask about it at one of the booths where you make your appointments if you are going to do the sales presentation anyway. That's assuming you don't mind doing it in the middle of the day when you could be at the parks.

Does anyone know how long it will take to get the info if you request it online on the DVC website?

I can't wait to get the info...I'm wondering if I should have called the 800# instead!

I am kind of impatient!:D

Thanks in advance!

goofyfordisney- Your question:

Does anyone know how long it will take to get the info if you request it online on the DVC website?

We requested our video/info from the website, and had it in 7 or 8 days. This was back in February when the BCV's were starting to move, so I don't know if that's slow, fast or average. But your wait should not be too long.

It seems like bills and credit card apps. show up every day. If only there was a little Disney magic in the mailbox more often!

I sent off for the video, it took about 2 weeks....it then took about 2 more weeks for a sales guide to follow up. This was in late Feburary early March. By that time, I'd found a BWV contract resale, and bought it - still waiting to close, but for a while it looked like I'd close faster than Disney was going to get back to me! (By the way, the sales guide that followed up, when the hubby said "too late, we are buying a BWV resale" immediately answered "welcome home.")

Don't expect a lot from the sales materials. A video that is more song and dance than information - and really doesn't show or tell you what you are buying. (But I do wonder why Mickey never rides Dumbo with my kids ;)) No point schedule, no contract information - that all comes later. They don't even do a good tour of the resorts. We made our decision through the information on Mouseplanet (particularly the point charts) and the room drawings on the DVC web site, and info from this site, as well as a few other sites, and from being pretty sure that Disney wasn't going to sell us a pig in a poke.

BTW, resale closings are moving slow right now as well - Disney has been very slow to get back on right of first refusal and then getting the necessary documents back to the title company - they are so busy! Looks like ours will take about 6 weeks to close - and then there will be a few weeks before any membership materials arrive.. Not a problem for us - we won't go for at least another year. Doesn't sound like it will be a problem for you either.
