Wondering of how many of you who are DVCers- Do you still opt for Tickets w/ Water Park & more or just do parks & possibly hoppers? I was just wondering if we would be better off not choosing water parks & more options- since resorts have the nice pool areas and many great themed areas- and since Pleasure Island will be closing the nightlife... My DH golfs but he won't be doing that at Disney- so no golf... Just not sure if water parks would be beneficial or not- what else is the benefit of water parks & more option? We will get 10 day tickets w/ no expiration (park hoppers included)- we were going to also have water parks & more but as I read more & more posts and get info off the Disney site- it seems that other than the actual water parks & Disney Quest... well no other benefits that I can see and w/ the great pools at the resorts why would we need water parks?
How much is Disney Quest admission on it's own per person and is there any other things I just don't know about thatthe "More" portion of the ticket will be good for?
Thanks for anyone who can help-
Oh - no annual passes at this time since we live in NC and won't be able to take full advantage of so many days w/in a year- hope someone can still help- Thx!

Because we go to WDW twice a year we do get APs but not Premium. If we want to go to a water park we'd use the DVC discount and buy as we go.

We also get APs. We do not do waterparks or Disney Quest enough to justify a park ticket that includes them. The DVC card gives you a daily rate discount for those. It is not an issue of avoiding waterparks or DQ entirely but simply one of how much you actually intend to use them. For some getting the more expensive ticket makes sense because they are frequent users of DQ or waterparks; for others like us, and I would guess I am in the majority, the extra cost does not make sense because we don't do those very often. I believe DQ is now $42 and change adult, $36 and change a child and the DVC discount is $4 and $3 respectively. Note, you also mentioned golf. That is not included with any park ticket. However, there is a DVC discount you can get if you purchase a DVC golf member card. There is also a discount if you have an AP.

Thx - I thought since PI is closing that the announcement was that in th eplace of there would be a round of gold available in the place of "the more" in water parks & more option- Was I wrong or misinformed? It almost seems that w/ the cost of admission and even w/ DVC discount that the option of adding it up front would be better (approx $50-) which would give us on a 10 day ticket 10 entrances to whichever we choose (& DQ may be a place we will go at least once each visit for the kids, especially on a rainy day) then just having the option to go to water parks - versus $42- admission and discount for one time... I am still torn as to what to do - But thx for th einsight- I figured most DVCers would be APers as well- We just don't see that as being beneficial since we would normally only be going once a year for a week- ... :confused3 I really wish I would have bought tickets back in July now versus waiting- OR will ticket prices possibly be going down again after the Holiday Season? Anyone know?

You are correct about the golf. Here's the information on it from allears.net

"And beginning June 28, 2008, you can also choose to use a visit to play a round of golf at Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course, a relaxed, nine-hole walking course designed for the entire family. Tee times are required and subject to availability."

the 10 day with hopper and no expire works best for us.

Because we only go to a park about 2 days (sometimes 1) out of a 1 week trip, even if we visit 2 or 3 times a year, it's definitely cheaper to get the no expire vs the annual pass.

We enjoy the trip more if we spend more time hanging out and poolside than rushing from ride to ride.

OneMoreTry- That is what I figure we may end up doing after our first- "We Are At Disney! OMG! Trip!"- LOL Even in April- (our first trip) I expect we may go 3 days to a park- & that is because I really want to go to Hollywood Studios for a few attractions I've heard about, I must see Epcot and we hope to have an ADR there- (also my older boys will be thrilled with the whole scene), and then between AK & MK I really hope to see MK this time around but think maybe we should do AK since the weather won't be as hot as it will be in July (our 2nd trip)- I plan to spend 2 days at the resort at least!
2nd trip- This year (2009) only will we be able to do twice in one year...- I hope to stay around resorts except maybe one day at park- & I really already have been thinking this may be doing "too much" at once- I want to enjoy Disney not be so overwhelmed that we are too exhausted to enjoy it! I keep telling myself, we are DVcers now- we can go as much as we like! I appreciate your insight - I figure we can always get another set of tix to use after these run out- & add waterparks then if we like- maybe after the new PI is open and they may have that as part of attraction again- Thx! I was beginning to think that no one in DVC did day tickets and everyone did AP's LOL-

Agreed; we do the same thing. AP's, not PAP's ... and if we do DQ or BB/TL we just take them one by one. We go to one every few years, so it's just not a good value for us to do the PAP's.

We started out last year with Premium AP's 'cuz we were going for a week on our first trip and knew DS wanted to go to both water parks AND DQ. I calculated up how much the admission would be for all 3 after the DVC discount for one time each and it worked out that it really was only saving us about probably $10 per person to go for the Premium AP's...what I DIDN'T know at the time of purchase was if we'd have time to go more than once or if we'd have time to go on another trip - so we went for it, used them once at each park and basically broke even.

As it turned out we went to WDW 2 other times but only for 4 n & 3 n trips and didn't have time for these other parks. Since we didn't have any other trips planned we let them expire when their year was up... I don't know just yet what we will do the next time. Have to wait & see what our plans are....but we will either do the regular AP's or go for the 10 day non-expiring with water parks. We discovered we simply do not have enough time to get the good out of the "Premium" option and we'll just pay for those parks as we go if that's the route we choose. We enjoy going to the water parks but usually don't spend as much time there. If you live closer or will be going more often then it's a good deal.
