I read on here that DVC is not taking money in for closings this week because they are using staff to get annual dues billing out. Does anybody know if that affects ROFR? We are currently waiting and I was hoping to find out by Christmas.

I would check the ROFR thread and see if anyone is getting notices. Not sure what date they are on for doing the ROFR pass/fail.

Honestly, I would not expect much in the way of ROFR this week because DVC is still understaffed and if they are delaying the closing process, I can see this too,

It could explain why the past few weeks, ROFR came pretty quickly because they knew this week would be limited.

I was told by Mason that closings would resume on the 16th... if fact we are scheduled to close on the 16th :) Yay!

Yes- Mason just emailed me that all of our documents have been received but Disney put all closings on hold from December 7-16. I’m “in line” for closing and expected to close early next week.

USPS has delayed my closing, I should have used UPS. My next day package is on day four, so annoying.
I was lucky- Mason sent me a fedex label for the check and fed ex actually delivered it a day early! I feel like I had a little Disney Magic.

Mason updated us this morning saying Disney IT technical issues with final payoffs (I guess this is estoppel?) has delayed my closing. They are trying again for today....

I would like to share by broker's explanation the issue. I am waiting for closing documents on my very first DVC contract.

I got this email a few minutes ago. If sharing this information is not permitted in any way or form do let me know so I can delete the message:

Hope all is going well. Mason Title reaches out to Disney the day they close a file to get final payoff. Disney had a planned shut down from the 7th until the 14th for annual dues billing. No files could close during that period. On the 14th Disney notified all brokers and closing companies that they encountered computer issues and needed and extra day to the 15th. On the 15th Disney reached out again to let everybody know the computer issue was not resolved and they needed until the end of day on the 18th (today). At this points Mason Title is waiting on Disney to provide “final payoffs” on 56 files that can close once Disney provides the information the closing companies need. Your file is 1 of the 56 spooled to close shortly.

Long explanation but hopefully that makes sense.

Hope this helps people following this thread.

So we’re in the same boat!

I'm one of the 56

Indeed, I got notification last night that my contract has closed.

However:

...Disney will be notified of the change of ownership within 24 hours. Please allow Disney 5 weeks to complete the transfer once notified. Disney will notify you by email once the transfer is completed. The points can take up to an additional 14 days to show in your account upon completion of the transfer...

That´s 7 weeks to finally have my account set up and points on my name. This pretty much handicaps my ability to book on my intended 2021 Christmas reservation considering the 11 month window I wanted to use. Oh well, we´ll see what happens.

Does DVC usually take that long to close everything up? I was sure hoping for a faster transaction overall. When I first made my original offer (Oct 24th), I thought maybe I should wait for a better contract to appear, not to jump after the very first real option I had in front of me. I guess I made the right move after all. Still, the waiting is exhausting.

I think this is a case of underpromising and over delivering. I’ve been told something similar with every contract I’ve bought and Disney’s always closed much quicker than what I’ve been told to expect to wait. Good luck!
