DVC Nightmare?

Kathi OD- If check in is after 4:00, then my room should be available at 4:01. I had a situation a few years ago at the Polynesian where I checked in at 3:30 and my room wasn't ready. This was a cash reservation and check-in was after 3:00. They told me my room wasn't ready and check in was after 3:00. I stated it was 3:30 which is "after" 3:00 and I need my room. The desk clerk went to speak to a manager and immediately assigned me another room.

That might be how you (and I) would like it to be, but in reality, after 4 means just that, at any time after 4, not at exactly 4:01. Also, the Poly is not DVC...different strokes for different folks, or resorts as the case may be.

I guess I've been really lucky in the past to not have waited until 9:00 or 10:00 for my room. We have a 14 month old girl which causes us to return from the parks as early as 8:00. What would the resort expect us to do if our room wasn't ready yet? I guess they would find us a room quick if we rolled out on the lobby floor and went to sleep! :rotfl: I honestly hope this type of situation never arises. So far, we have been tremendously pleased with our DVC investment.

This is almost exactly what my kids did :rotfl: . When we checked into OKW in April our room wasn't ready yet. We arrived at 7pm!!

We had just spent 8 hours at Typhoon Lagoon and then stopped at the grocery store and my kids were exhausted when we arrived. They practically feel asleep on the couches in the loby :rotfl: .

I thought it was a joke that our room wasn't ready yet. Then the CM checking us in went to the back to find a manager. She disappeared for 1/2 hour and came back with her mouth full of food and crumbs on her clothes. I think she just decided to go on her lunch break :confused3 :rotfl: . Oh, and she forgot to look for the manager while she was in the back :scared: .

To make a long story shorter, we didn't get into our room until 9pm :scared1: . But when I finally did get to talk to a manager, I was compensated for my hassle.

Is the one reservation that isn't showing made with "Developer Points?" I have one that doesn't show up and I think that is the reason. Maybe it is the same with you. I'm not worried about it, as I have the written e-mail confirmation.

I was just curious if anyone has ever confirmed a room through MS and found that they did not have a room on arrival day? The reason I'm asking is because I have a room booked at the Boardwalk in June but it's not showing up on the official Disney World website. I have several other trips booked this year and they're all showing up on the Disney World "My Vacation" section with the exception of the June Boardwalk reservation. I called MS and they confirmed that my reservation is in the system. :confused3
No need to worry. The DVC reservations are not supposed to be on the official site. Disney is working on some of its many computer systems (which is probably a good thing). There's no way to know how/why they are choosing some DVC reservations to show on the official website - my theory is that they are tyring to make the MS and CRO/WDWTC reservation systems compatible. They aren't right now.

Anyway, as long as MS says they have your reservation, there is no need to worry.

Bring your confirmation sheet! My Uncle showed up to OKW last oct only to be told there was no reservation. A month before he went he looked and there was no reservation on the site. He called to double check and was told everything was there do not worry! He forgot his confirmation sheet!!!!!
There were rooms at saratoga left! He was lucky!!!! They made him use extra points to book it.They told him when he got home to fax his confirmation sheet and the points would be put back and if they were wrong they would do something EXTRA. Well it took till March to get his points back after lots and lots of phone calls, faxes, emails, etc. Nothing extra happened either.
PLEASE BRING THE CONFIRMATION!!!!!!! If something doesn't feel or seem right it usually isn't.
Best of luck and I hope It works out for you!

Also, some people are reporting that their reservations with developer points are showing up on the DVC site and for others (myself included) the reservations made with developer points are not showing up.
:confused3

I have a reservation in October during the Food & Wine Festival. I used Developer Points for this booking and it does not show up on the DVC member website but it is on the Disney World site under the link "My Vacation". :cool1:

I always bring my confirmation paper that was mailed out to me. If there's a problem I will just show them my confirmation.

Sometimes they forget to send you a confirmation. Recently I just called because I'd never received a confirmation. And now I'd heard the resort was sold out at that time (HHI for Thanksgiving). So I'd definitely call and get a confirmation sheet sent.
