Just saw this on the Members website (I don't go to Members website often, only when I book a trip or check my account) The "official" member facebook group.

Anyone belong to it? Is it worth joining, it says it has over 22K members.

It is not so bad, the right information eventually gets out. What drives me crazy there and with all FaceBook DVC groups is the lack of organization. There is no way to sort questions into buckets like purchasing, resorts, member services, etc., so you get a lot of duplicate questions. It is also interesting to see how many people have bought with no understanding of the system. The problem is that the FaceBook Group is not conducive for learning about the system, except in a random stream.

Yeah, probably not a good match for me. Facebook misinformation drives me up a wall. It brings out the worst in me. ;)

I joined that group when it first started, but left within a week or two.

It sounds like everything else on face book, a site full of made up crap.

I can't even find it, but joined another large DVC FB group and ... wow, the snark. And total misinformation! Lots of people who swear "NEVER RESALE!!" but never say why. (Also lots of people who buy OKW resale and then are mad when they can't book BLT or GF 2 months in advance.)

I check in periodically to make sure I really appreciate you all.

I have looked at many, many DVC info sites, and by far this site has the best informed folks out there. Don't waste too much time looking else where you will just be disappointed, and misinformed.

I am there and actually got a pretty good answer to a question I posted yesterday. But, I did have stop notifications for it. There is a lot of activity and it was blowing up my page. I only read what looks interesting to me. There are a lot of questions about resale, but I have never actually seen anyone rail against it that I recall. Just like any other FB group, you have to take it in moderation and not believe everything you read.

I signed up for all the DVC FB sites. I did not find rude people, or people giving bad answers. I just find the lack of focus and organization to be disconcerting, and stopped following them. The same questions are asked over and over again, rather than trying to find out if questions had been answered previously. Maybe I don't have a modern enough mentality to find the sites worthwhile. I really miss the Disboards days of 2009-2013. I have met a lot of nice people on these boards over the years. I keep coming back here because I continue to learn, and hopefully help others.

It's better than the other one on Facebook that is run by one of the point brokers (not David). That one has lots of mean people on it.
The problem with a group that is sponsored by a particular interest, is that it is harder to be honest when people ask a question about who to use for a service, where the sponsor themselves is a provider of the service. On one of those FB groups someone had started an open discussion about where to rent DVC points, and it got shut down as soon as this board, and another competing board (that I can't mention here) were mentioned.

Any group that is not moderated, where anyone can join and post, ends up with a lot of junk (combination of mis-information and petty arguments).

So the challenge is, finding a group that is moderated well, but not run by someone with a self interest that prevents open discussion. I am not knocking self interest, and certainly don't expect someone to invest the resources in setting up and moderating discussion sites without wanting to promote their self interest. I am only saying that the ideal discussion group, would not be both well moderated and not run by a self interest.
