DVC negative issues?

We're totally happy! CMs have been great, nice rooms, good experiences with MS.::MinnieMo

Totally love my DVC, never had a problem at OKW or BWV. all units consistently clean and in good repair. I believe it is a great value for my money..

However, it is a little disheartening to see the benches at Beach Club have not been fixed. MOST IMPORTANTLY AFTER THE ASURANCE THAT THEY WOULD BE SO. But, I digress.......

Only issue we've had is getting current membership cards, we joined back in 99, our cards were expired by over a year, it took 9 phone calls over a years period of time, and a threat to take it to my tour guide and a requested call from a manager to get it complete.... they were fed-ex'd overnight delivery.

The bus service is sub par, but I solve that by using my car to get around. The accomodations are excellent. I paid $525 per night just last weekend for a condo unit at a Sheraton in Portsmouth NH and it was about par with one I paid $135 for down in Orlando. I would put the accomodations with some of the better I have stayed in over the years for the price. The big complaint I have is not about DVC but WDW, it is turning into just another amusement park with thrill rides getting away from the Walt Disney idea of having a place where families could go on rides together. Just look at what they did with the World of Motion and Horizon replacing those great family rides with two thrill rides. I love Florida in the winter so DVC will always be for me, but WDW is another story.

Never had any problems at all we checked in to VWL and I went to the room to find it was a handicap room no tub and went down staris and they changed it on the spot. I also had no fee to pay for this also on the night we got there we arrived alot earlier than anticipated like 3 AM and they had a room for us in about 5 minutes so we essentially got an extra night at no cost but it was after midnight so with that technicality we were on the actual check in day.

my complaint about DVC is that they need more merchandise with the DVC logo and maybe a catalog to go with it

I would like to add to this: Quality, reasonably priced merchandise. Not $48 for a poor quality golf shirt.

High point costs for Friday and Saturday night. I usually move.

But if the points were lower, I'd be down there a LOT of weekends.

- the discount on Annual Passes would be REALLY nice

- a bigger discount on everything Disney (like 15-20% instead of 10%) would make sense since I'm paying 10.5% interest or something like that on the credit card.

- yes!! more stuff with the DVC logo on it.

- and if they could do something about the weather in VT . . .::yes::

Ummm, I guess its working.

They have the weekends so high to keep us Floridians from using lots of weekends. They foresaw Floridians using lots of weekends making it difficult for everyone else to reserve whole weeks.

We still use lots of weekend points(sorry Dean)

If the 10% figure you are quoting is based on 10 responses out of 100 responses, but was based on trip experiences over the past 12 years, the actual number of dissatisfied members is probably more likely to be .01%, since many of those who indicated a dissatisfaction have also had many other trips without any problem and the 90% who reported no problems have collectively had hundreds of such trips.

Good point, Doc. We look at it slightly differently:

If we've taken 40 DVC trips in the past 11 years, and have had 4 significant housekeeping problems between all of those trips, we would have a 10% problem rate, and that would indeed be very high. That the problems occurred throughout the 11 years makes no difference to us; it's still a "failure" rate over time.

In fact, we've had only one major problem, getting a room that should have been closed for repair. Broken blinds, permanent marker all over the hot tub, most light bulbs broken, etc.

That one trip gives us a 2.5% problem rate, which we consider quite acceptable. :D
