Hello all,
We are seriously thinking of joining this year. What tips/suggestions/comments/ be careful things can you tell me about. I think we want to take a look at the new BCV.

Housekeeping, I know that you don't have it everyday but what about trash removal and clean towels? How does this work?
Thanks

There are trash rooms located throughout DVC resorts (on each floor or in each building). If you have a 1BR unit or larger you will have a washer/dryer and can wash your towels there. If you have a studio you will have to use the laundry room but the machines are free. We tend to throw our towels in the washer every other morning and then dry them when we get back that evening so they are all ready for the next morning.

We really thought we would miss the daily maid service but find that we actually prefer not having it.

You get a trash and tidy service on the 4th day you are there (counting arrival date as first day), meaning they empty the trash, replenish towels, bathroom and cleaning supplies and clean up a little. If you are there 8 nights or more you get full cleaning on that 4th day and then trash and tidy on the 8th, full cleaning the 12th day, etc. You can order extra full cleaning days at a price ($25/$30/$40 per day for a studio/1BR/2BR) for one or more days you are there. You can also purchase extra towels ($6 a set).

BCV will be for sale only through Disney when it starts. The process is fairly simple but there will be voluminous documents provided. Biggest issue will be how many points you will want and that is a personal decision.

Just to add a brief comment...

I thought that the largest issue we would have was the daily maid service when we were deciding on purchasing our DVC membership.

After discussing it with my DW, we discovered that we actually like NOT having daily maid service since we don't need to worry about when we leave the room or not being able to come back when we want.

The only thing we were concerned about was the number of towels, since we only have used studios (it is only my DW and me). We did ask for additional towels (which we received), but we were never billed. If you do get billed, it is only $6 for a set of four.

Take your time and way all your options. If you plan on going to WDW every year (or every other year) and want to stay on-site at a Deluxe hotel, DVC makes a lot of sense.

All I can say is that it was one of the best decisions we made in terms of vacation experiences. In fact, I find that I can never have enough points and I have 350! To me, the number of points you buy, and the location of your home resort are the two most important factors in the decision. We used the 1/2 down, 1/2 one-year mortgage payment method and next month, we'll be paid in full! Yes, it was tough putting down the first 1/2 but now that it is all done, I'm glad to be just paying for maintenance. It frees us to vacation at the coast for a week every year in addition to all our DVC trips. Feel free to e-mail me with any specific questions you might have...I'm a VWL owner.
