I'm driving down one of the larger streets, Merrick Road, on the way to take my 20 year old DD to Friday's for dinner. It's not hard to miss the fact that I am a WDW nut, my car is totally WDW decked out, from the vanity plates (DISWORLD) to bumper stickers and license plate frames. I also have a colorful DVC decal (the one with the logo with the two mountains and mickey head) on my driver's side window.

We stop at a light and a car pulls up next to us and the guy driving it frantically motions for me to lower my window. My first thought was "uh-oh, did I cut this man off and not realize it?". I wonder if he's going to yell at me or something. But I lower the window and he yells out "Disney Vacation Club!! What's your home resort?". I yelled back "Boardwalk, what's yours?" He says "Beach Club". Then the light turned green, we smiled at each other and waved goodbye.

My daughter thought it was hysterical, and said (knowing me quite well) "That made your night didn't it mom?" And it sure did! Anyone else ever have a DVC moment unexpectedly?

That is so cool!!! It would have made my night too.

There is another family at my son's school that has DVC things on their car. I have made it my goal this year to stalk the venicle until I meet the parent and child exiting and just say hi :) Since our kids are in school together, it makes sense that we might occasionally be at WDW at the same time so it would be fun to get to know them at home and then maybe have dinner or something at WDW.

Wow! That is so neat! :) I hope that I have future run ins like that. It would certainly have made my night too! See ya in May dont forget! :) :) :)

no wonder my DW thinks we've joined a cult ;). It's all just too happy for her I think.

hehe - We do come off as a little brain washed at times.

I have a DVC story,

3 years aga on these boards I noticed another person from Staten Island so I sent her a PM. It winds up that our sons go to the same high school. I told her we had vanity plates with DVCMBR99 and to honk and wave if she ever saw us by the school. A few days later, a woman honked at my DH and I assumed it was my "new friend".

Finally this year, at a school meeting, my DH says to me.'There is the woman who always waves at me - it must be your friend from the DIsBoard". I walked up to her and introduced myself and she said I had her mistaken with someone else (it wasn't my friend). Later that night, at the meeting, I did meet my new friend and told her the story. We both had a good laugh since my DH has ben waving to some stranger for 3 years!

Too funny about your "stalking" plans Laura, I am sure I'd do the exact same thing. Once I was parked behind someone with Disney vanity plates at one of my daughter's soccer games. I actually stood around for 10 minutes or so after the game hoping to meet them, but they didn't show--and my daughter wasn't too thrilled to wait at all, so we left.

I do often joke about the WDW "cult", pumpkinboy and lllovell mentioned. For sure, us DVC and/or WDW nuts do have a lot of cult like tendencies. Including giving a large chunk of our income away to the "cult leaders", LOL.

Definitely on for May JiggerJ, always a treat to meet a DIS/DVC-er at the actual place we all obsess about. I think I am going to meet up with JeanJoe and his family in October. We're going to try and get other DIS-ers involved as well, we shall see what happens.

Very funny story mikesmom88, thanks for sharing!

This happaned in 1995.
We had been members for about a year and were stationed in Kings Bay. GA
About 3 hours from OKW.
I saw a guy in the commissary with a DVC shirt on.
It was so cool to talk DVC, becasue at that time it was still failry young and not everyone understood me.

Next time I am around Lynbrook I will have to look for you...but it's a bit far from my little area of Long Island!! I will have to get a DVC label for my car in October.

Hi,

This thread is too funny.

I was the one honking at mikesmom88's dh. He must of thought I was crazy the first time. It took a while but we finally did meet and we now chat all the time and occasionally run into each other driving.

Hi Ellen :)

I also get all excited when I see a car with anything Disney especially if it's DVC.

A few months ago we had a lady come into our office and asked who owned the "Disney" car and truck. DW and I both have Disney vanity plates and both have the DVC oval stickers. Turns out this lady is also a DVC owner (BWV) and banks next door and had been wanting for months to find out who owned our vehicles. We chatted for 20 mins or so about DVC.

I would love to find someone locally that knows about DVC. Whenever I mention it to anyone, they always assume I'm talking about the now-extinct Disney Club. We went to a DIS meet in Portland, OR about a year ago and it was so nice to talk Disney all evening. It was like finding a support group. :goodvibes

Your stories are hysterical! :rotfl2: I'll have to look for some DVC stuff for the car when we are down in October. I have to be careful because DH hates attaching any thing permanent to his precious car. We do have those dangly poohs and minnies that you suction onto the glass windshield. Note to self - pick up more!

I have run into several people by accident that have been DVC. One was when I was standing in line on Arbor Day waiting to buy a tree. The person in front of me had a Mickey bag, and when she saw me answer my Mickey cell phone, we started talking Disney and learned that we were both DVC owners. It turned out she lived about 3 blocks from me! We know several others around here too, and of course, we have met some very nice Dissers who own DVC!

You guys are so lucky! I live in a town of less than 3,000, and I've never found another DVCer or DISer. (sigh) I've stopped bringing it up - people already think I'm a Disney nut. Thank heavens for the DIS!

I actually ran into a classmate from high school. We were chatting and discovered we both owned DVC. My DH and I own at VWL and she owns at BCV. It was readily apparent that she was not the DVC expert in the family, she said it was "her husband's" interest. They bought in while at HH (never have even been to Disneyworld), and had not even used their purchase yet.

So yes, I have had a DVC moment, but it is not much fun when the other person is only lukewarm about Disney!!!

A few years ago we were at my dds softball game and I was wearing my DVC t-shirt. Their coach came up to me and said "Where do you own?" Turns out she owned at OKW!

I still want to know who owns the WDW DVC plate here in IL. I was following them the other day and my youngest dd shouted "Look mom! - It's a DVC plate."

I'm in Malverne and will definitely look for your car! We own at BC, so we're practically neighbors!

*Mission Impossible theme music playing in the background*

I saw the woman in the DVC stickered car yesterday at open house at school. She even had on a Mickey Mouse t-shirt. Unfortunately, I embarrassed my son by hiding in the bushes :rotfl: (no no - I was talking to one son's teacher, so I couldn't stop her to chit chat - but now I know her face...one step closer!)

*sneaking off to plot more* :teeth:
