Greetings all,
I was wondering if any of the perks offered to annual pass holders are in any way superior to the perks offered to us as DVC members? Could they be used in combination?
Thanks
Jess

With the exception of the resort discounts, many of the same AP perks exist with DVC also. Obviously, we don't get the AP rate with our DVC on rooms, but the restaurants and mini golf etc is virtually the same discount.

The only AP discount that I remember my friend and I getting that her DVC couldn't was 10% off at the World of Disney. At least at the time when my friend asked (a couple weeks ago) she was told no DVC discount there, but the AP was good for that. Not a lot but it's saved me a ton when I shop for Christmas there ;)

Oh yes, that's right, Elaine! I forgot about that one!

You can't add an AP discount on top of a DVC discount or vice versa. If you have both discounts available to you, you can use whichever is greater, but Disney does not allow you to add them together.

And to mention a few where the "opposite" is true:

DVC members get 10% off on most DIsney Store merchandise purchases. AP holders do not.

DVC members get 20% off meals at most of the restuarants in the Swan/Dolphin Resorts. AP holders do not.

There are differences both ways. We have both and use both as appropriate. They both are subject t o changes so you should check for each trip. We also use the AP codes for non-DVC resort trips. That can pay for the pass all by itself.

Discounts are not cumulative. You get to use either one. Also the dining discounts are sometimes restricted to specific meals, such as lunch only at sit down restaurants.

According to my DW, the best thing about having an AP and a DVC membership, is that you need both to purchase DVC and Annual Passholder pins. What would she do without them both?

We play a lot of mini-golf and the AP discount of 50% really makes a difference. I believe the DVC discount is 15%.

Aren't there AP holder rates at VB? We are planning a January trip, a time when VB has historically offered plenty of incentives (last yr they offered Disney Visa holders $99 studio nights). Now we are DVC members, and can likely get the 25% DVC discount for our room for those weekend nights if we keep pestering MS about it. We are also AP holders, and I know you can reserve WDW hotel rooms for your guests at the AP holder rate; does anyone know if this also goes for VB? I'd love to get a nice little extra discount on the other room, esp since our friends are covering the cash portion (ie 2 weekend nights) of the 5 night weekend jaunt.

Of course, last I checked, VB had not yet released cash rates for 2005.
