I received my permanent DVC ID today... I was a little suprised to find out that I've been a DVC member since 1995! I didn't realize that when you purchased into DVC via the resale market that you retained the original purchasers membership begin date. So, instead of Member Since 08/2005 it says since 08/1995... (just 10 years...)

Scuba---My ID gives the correct date of our re-sale purchase... (03/05) Can't see that it matters much, there don't appear to be any longevity bonuses!

Interesting... no biggie to me... just makes it look like I bought in when I was 18. :rotfl2:

I had the samething, but got a replacement for a lost card and it showed 2004 the correct date.

vascubaguy-You've certainly taken alot of vacations that you can't even remember!! :rotfl2:

Next time you talk to MS, see if they can fill you in on where you've been, what you've done, and when you did it!!! :goodvibes

Better yet....see if they have any unused points lying around.

Now that's a good idea... need to find out if I can get those 10 years of points! :teeth:

We got our cards today. Apparently we've been members since November 2000. I think we should apply for reinstatement of all those lost points!

They've done it this way all along. BTW, many timeshares keep the original purchase date as a reference with any membership. And it can be good or bad they do depending. A good example with DVC was the free pass program. If you got a new membership date and it was after the free passes had expired, you wouldn't be eligible. Many timeshares change the rules over time that apply to one group of members but not another. One I own made it where you can't buy resale if you are already an owner and it goes by a cutoff date. Unfortunately, they make new resale purchases effective at the current date.

You got them, just didn't know it!!!!!!!! :confused3

Yeah, well....lucky you....everytime the year changes, I get a new "member since" date. When we first bought resale, I got the date the original owners bought, then they "updated" my account to show a purchase in 2004, and then on my last "Member's Clubhouse", it shows "Member since 2005"....I guess I just keep getting "adjusted" for some reason!!!

Our ID cards show us as members since 2001. We assumed that was then the original owners of the contract purchased. We only bought in June 05.

I just opened yesterday's mail and my new cards were in there. When I opened it up I made sure to check the "member since" date and mine says that we have been members since March 2001. When in reality it is August of 2005.

This is a little off topic. We bought into the DVC August 13, 2005. How long does it take before you recieve your permanent cards. We still have our temporary cards and have gotten or permanent ones yet? Maybe they will be in the mailbox when I get home.

We bought earlier this year, and our cards say 1992 - that is the year I graduated from High School! :rotfl2:

What happens in Disney stays in Disney :goodvibes

I got my permanent card in about 30 days after we closed (resale purchase), but I was told up to 90 days. If you bought direct thru DVD, I'm not sure if they order your permanent card as soon as you get in the system, or if they wait until you officially close.

hey, I closed way before Vascubaguy and I haven't got mine yet! I did get the bill saying I owed maintenance fees in January though! They got that to me in a timely manner!

I really want my membership cards too!

My cards arrived exactly one month after I closed. I bought through the resale market. Don't know if that makes any difference...
