DVC Membership Cards...anyone have one yet?

FINALLY got ours yesterday for both of our DVC contracts and OUR MEMBER SINCE YEARS were correct unlike the temporary paper ones I printed out in April for that trip. :)

Noticed a week or so ago there was a place on the member website for ordering a card, submitted the request and got one yesterday. This was after I've contacted MS twice since January asking why the wife got on but I didn't.

Well today, May 17th our cards just arrived! I had called 3 times and filled out online form 2 times since January when others had said they received their cards. We have been members for 10+ years and overall we can still say we are happy with our decision to buy in.

Still waiting,

we have been members for 24.5 of DVC's 25 years. Oh, no silver anything mailing either.

Finally arrived yesterday. I had to contact them twice, once in March and the four weeks later in April but it finally arrived.

Hope to find mine in the mailbox when I get home from a short road trip.

I applied online a couple of times and called, but so far there had been nothing.

I have recieved the cards and the mailer....and to be honest with you the entire presentation and themeing of the 25 year stuff is AWFUL IMO

I got my cards.....4 of them. Didn't see anything about 25 years though. And DH didn't get any.
He doesn't have an account and won't get one.....will he eventually get them because he is an owner?

The card it self won't, but the package it was in should have had the 25th anniversary information.

All owners (except those that purchased resale after 4/4/2016) should get a member id card, even if they don't have a log on to the member website.

Nope...they were all just plain white evvelopes
We will keep waiting for DH's to arrive.....someday then.

The old card, new card mess is just that. Neither of us have received new cards but DW brought her old one. I requested a new card and they give you a temporary "electronic" or pic to use until your new one arrives. At WDW this past week, the use of old cards new cards, temporary cards is inconsistent at best. One location the DW is told her card is no longer good to use while at another location I was told I could not use my new temporary card even with photo ID. It is as if they are oblivious to the mess they know exists with card replacements and are intentionally trying to make use of the cards difficult during he transition even knowing the majority have not received.

Just curious what you need cards for??
I was a member for 10+ years and was never asked for my card (although I always had it handy).

Granted, we had the TiW (then DDE) so we didn't need it for food discounts. Also, at the time, the parks had an AP merchandise discount but not a DVC discount.

The only other thing I can think of was valet parking. That said, the valet billed, but it was the resort that waived the fee.

So, with that said, why the big need for the card?
I'm certain I'm missing something.

Food discounts, merchandise discounts, AP discounts, to access ToTW, to pick up or buy discounted party tickets, to buy TIW etc. etc. Anytime there's a special you need to have the card to verify. There are a few CM's that might skip it now and then but that's far less than it used to be to the point it's pretty rare in my experience. As you say, you had TIW but you had to show that. And the AP for merchandise which you would have had to show. It's no different for the DVC discounts.

Okay.... Perhaps it was just my experience that I never had to show it because I had the other discount cards. I get that...
I always thought the DVC and Chase Visa discounts were weak compared to the AP and TiW... But, if you don't have those, I suppose DVC is better than nothing.

The DVC and AP discounts are pretty much the same now with a few exceptions. The Chase Visa still offers some additional experiences but I don't think there are any discounts with it that are any better.

Also, when there were KTTW cards and it had the DVC printed on them we had a lot of CM's that would just accept that for the discount although technically even then they were supposed to see the card and id.

I think you're exactly right about the kttw cards.... Good point. Never thought of that.

Hello,
I'm just wondering if anyone has received their new DVC membership cards yet. If you have, did you buy direct or resale? We purchased our points several years ago through resale but my understanding is we are grandfathered in (for now).
Thanks!
Heidi
We purchased direct in January & received our card early April.
