DVC Member Site Point Chat Update!!

On January 21 a version of the 2010 Vacation Point Charts was incorrectly posted. An updated version will be made available within the next week. I just don't understand why DVC always seems to screw these things up. The first chart for BLT had higher points for lake view than MK view for some rooms! Doesn't anyone proofread?

LOL! I bet they have someone monitoring these boards and they are trying to do damage control..like OP said..doesn't mean they aren't correct..just not supposed to be posted..or someone messed up and is now added to that unemployment number.

They want the calls to stop with people asking about it. That should slow the torch weilding mob down slightly I suppose.

They have to make sure thay word it right to make it sound like we were all asking for it in the survey none of us filled out.

Well, I hope there is some mistakes in it. I usually go 8 nights to SSR. I added the point differences for each season for every housing catagory assuming an 8 night stay (one weekend). This is what I found:

All seasons combined (studio) = 16 more points
All seasons combined (1 bdr) = 10 more points
All seasons combined (2 bdr) = 20 more points
All seasons combined (GV) = 80 points LESS

Seems like at SSR we are all going to be paying for the Grand Villas whether we stay at them or not. But also, the current 2010 chart has the Premier cost for an 8 night stay at the Grand Villa 46 points Less than 2009!

I certainly hope the post next week does have changes in it.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge - I haven't been on the boards as much lately (only reading a few posts here and there). Anyway - do I have this right? Recently DVC posted a change in points to lower numbers for weekends and higher for weeknight on the member website. Then today they posted something saying this was inaccurately posted. Now we'll have to wait and see whether they are going up or not? I saw a little about this last night but when I went to the DVC website - I couldn't find the info - so I guess they must have already pulled it.

What about the change in waitlisting I read about on here - is that really happening or was that accidentally added to the DVC website or is it just a rumor too.

Again, pardon my ignorance - just trying to keep it all straight in my mind!

Am I reading this right, that points are increasing for your stay? I was told when we purchased last month that points would never change, only fluctuate based on holidays and the calendar by a couple days...

Total points for a resort cannot change. If you add up all the points for every villa, from Studio to Grand Villa, and for every night of the year, you will probably get a few million points. That's the number that can't change.

They can reallocate the points as long as the total doesn't change. If something goes up somewhere, then something somewhere else has to go down to balance out. Examples might be:

1. Decrease points for Premier season, and increase them for Adventure season. Or change any of the season's points up or down.

2. Increase points for a Studio and decrease them for a Grand Villa. Or change any of the points up/down by villa type.

3. Increase points for weeknights and decrease them for weekends.

With all the combinations of Villas, Seasons, and weekday/weekends there are any number of changes they could make such that the total for all villas for the full year does not change.

Any changes are specific to each resort separately. For example they cannot increase points at OKW and decrease them at one of the other DVC resorts to make up the difference.
