DVC Member Newbie Question - not enough points how to borrow?

Hi everyone,

Sorry I know this is such a newbie question.....
However, we are looking to book a stay in Sep 2020 for our home resort Aulani.
When logging into our DVC account we have 0 2019 points and 200 2020 points
However, we I go to make a booking it says you currently have 0 points

Our Sep 2020 stay requires 245 points.
So we are 45 points short

are we able to borrow the 45 points from 2021?

Though I'm thinking we are still in the 2019 year and can only borrow points from 2020 to book now.

Do we have to wait until Aug (we have Aug use year) for our 2021 points to show in our account?


If we can't borrow the 2021 points now.
Would our only options be to get a point transfer from another Aulani member?
Or, rent points from another member and make 2 reservations. 1) use our DVC points and 2nd booking renting someones points.
Are you able to combine or link the 2 reservations together (to avoid checking out and back in again)?

Sorry just when we think we finally understand how DVC works....we go to do something and get so confused.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your August 2020 points can be used for a booking from August 1, 2020 through July 31, 2021. For a September 2020 booking you should be able to borrow 2021 points. You should be able to book now.

I recommend calling MS the morning for help. You are doing something wrong somehow.

Have you tried to go thorough and actually Book and get an error? You may be seeing 0 points as that is what you have in your 2019 UY.

As mentioned, if you do have 200 from 2020 UY and all your 2021 UY points, it should allow you to borrow and book.

When you can book your vacation is always the same - 11 months before your trip for a home resort stay, 7 months before your trip for a non home resort stay. What changes is which year’s points you can use to book the trip.
8/1/19 - 7/31/20 = 2019 points (could be banked into 2020 to use for that Sept. trip but you have none left)
8/1/20 - 7/31/21 = 2020 points can be used for 9/2020 trip
8/1/21 - 7/31/22 = 2021 points can be borrowed into 2020 use year for your Sept. 2020 trip.

Thanks everyone! Called member services and it appears there was a technical error that has now been fixed. When I go to make our reservation it now says you need 45 points and gives us the option of borrowing them from our 2021 allocation.
