I did not see this posted elsewhere, so hopefully this is not a repeat.

Experience the magic of Thanksgiving with your family at Walt Disney World Resort this year! At this first-of-its-kind event, Disney Vacation Club Members can enjoy a special opportunity to enjoy Thanksgiving in the majestic Fantasia Ballroom at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

A mouthwatering cornucopia of favorite holiday dishes await you and your guests at the all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet. There will be a full cash bar featuring a special holiday drink created for the occasion: a Caramel Apple Martini. Your party will be seated at your own private, reserved table, which will be set and waiting for you to arrive.

Magical Disney touches will make this a celebration you'll always remember! Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will greet your family and pose for photos. Your family will also enjoy some extra special surprises.

You can make reservations from October 1 through November 14. Seating at this Member-exclusive event is limited.

I see that they are also having DVC Merry Mixers on some Monday afternoons in November and December.

I don't see how they will get enough member takers to make this happen. For anyone signing up, I would make a backup plan in case it gets canceled.

The possibility exists that they might be offering it to DVC CM's also.

Not sure what to think about this, except for $90 bucks a head I'd like a little more menu detail other than "mouthwatering cornucopia."

I can't possibly eat enough to make this worthwhile. Why do all food "deals" include stuff-yourself-until-you-explode offers?!?!

Besides the unknown menu I think 2 hrs. from 3-5PM isn't nearly enough time for a meal like that.Besides will there be large screen TV's with all the football games on?:rotfl2:

On the DVC website, there is a link to the menu. It looked like pretty traditional Thanksgiving foods to me. (See my next post for the menu!) Too bad they can't include beer/wine for that cost...at least the Luau and Hoop Dee Doo include some alcohol!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

I agree. I was OK with the price (since it includes tax and gratuity) until I realized it was a buffet. I was originally thinking it was going to be similar to the TiW events which normally include several courses. I'm not a fan of buffets.

Thanks for posting the menu Geomom. It'll probably be decent quality, but that price is crazy.

For my money I'll stay home for Thanksgiving dinner and feed my entire family for roughly the price of one adult meal, and go to WDW the following week when it's less crowded. :earsboy:

ETA: I do think a caramel apple martini sounds good. That can't be difficult to make, can it? Appletini (which you can buy pre-mixed at a liquor store) and some kind of caramel liquer???

Compared to the price of the Villains Soiree which is $99 on top of the $70 Halloween party ticket this might be a bargain.

It doesn't seem like too bad of an option (for Disney I mean) but priced on the high side for a buffet unless they have a bit more entertainment going on.

Egads on the price.

We made an entire Thanksgiving dinner for four of us in our AKV 1 bedroom last year for about half the price of 1 adult for this DVC meal. Plus we had plenty of leftovers for another dinner and turkey sandwiches for lunch. The time is kind of odd, too.

We will be @ WDW for Thanksgiving, and I was excited to see that they had a special DVC event planned, UNTIL I saw the price. I am sorry, but that is crazy for a buffet IMHO. Those "extra special surprises" better be pretty special!

I was excited to read this, UNTIL I saw the PRICE!!! $90.00 per Disney adult??? and 50.00 for Disney child??? for a buffet??? and no wine or beer included??? Sounds like you get pictures with Mickey and Minnie but that's it as far as entertainment?

We have done the Luau and Hoop-De-Doo-Revue for T-day dinner and Christmas dinner before and even the most expensive seats were about $20.00 cheaper but they included Sangria and beer and of course you got a fun show. I just do not see this as being worth it in my book. Think this will only fill with people who have not made or gotten any T-day reservations yet.

The "extra special surprise" better be $30 in cash.

It will be interesting to hear the prices for the cash bar. I went to the Merry Mixer about 5 years ago with a cash bar and thought that I would like a diet coke instead of the provided apple cider. $4 for a can of diet coke! Seriously?

I wish we were going. The price doesn't seem that bad to me. We are in the midwest and several hotels offer a Thanksgiving buffet for about the same price.
