DVC member events and gifts

We will be sailing on a Western on the Fantasy in October. Is the DVC member gathering still on embarkation day? Are they still giving hats as gifts? Wondering if I should pack one I have.

We sailed the Fantasy (Eastern) in April. I don't believe the DVC member event was embarkation day, and we did not get hats (or anything like that) as gifts at the event. I'm not sure we got any gifts at all, though we did get a blue cocktail for adults (which wasn't especially good) and a blue mocktail for kids (that they REALLY loved).

We cruised on the Wish this past November. They did have a DVC presentation where they played games and provided drinks. I do not remember if it was embarkment day. They did not have hats as gifts. I was really disappointed as I look forward to the hats. The DVC cast member implied that people did not want the hats. What they did have (which was not much) was the initial gift in the room which was not a big deal. I remember door magnets and maybe lanyards. Other than that you had to stop at the DVC desk to get a daily small gift that were things like a holder for your phone that you stick onto the back of the phone or a pin, etc but no hats.

We did that itinerary in June 2022. They had the same DVC member event the 2 sea days. Free drinks, but no giveaways at the event. Stop at DVC desk daily for little giveaways. 'Big" gift last year was a cinch bag. Not sure what this year's is. Here's our haul from last June

Yes, they should already have your info and they'll put a magnet on your door. If it's not there, stop by the DVC desk and they'll scan your card and check their list.

The member event is a complete waste of time now. No giveaways, crappy drinks, and a boring game show is the extent of it. No hats available as gifts. They’re still doing the daily gifts if you go to the desk including the cinch bag pictured above, chapstick, pirate night tattoos, buttons, small lithograph, and a couple other small items.

Just got off the fantasy last week. The meet & greet is usually day 2 now. Around lunchtime. I’ve skipped it on several cruises. No give away or drawings anymore. You can stop and pickup a gift at the kiosk most nights. Our last cruise was 10 nights and you could only pickup on port days. The cinch bag is the only real gift. Everything else we skip. (Button, lip balm, pop sockets, pirate tattoos) though we do pick up the luggage tags.

The items described here are consistent with our w experience on the fantasy in April. The game show at the member event was cute but my kids were disappointed they couldn’t participate or earn a prize. It was up to the host/MC and they picked maybe 5-6 people (in a room of ~80 people) to play.

Maybe if you told them you’ll only add on 200 points if they give you the hat? There’s got to be a hat somewhere on the ship they can give you…

On our Wish cruise I complained to the DVC cast members about not having hats anymore. The response was that nobody wanted them or complained about hats again. For me hats were my favorite gift and the only one I was really interested in. I wear mine every day. Free advertising for them. I think short sited not to give them away.

We will be on the member cruise in September. I will be really disappointed if one of the gifts is not a hat!

Did the Wish in June 2023 and it was the same as what was pictured above except they had the magic band straps. No giveaways at the presentation (day 2 at sea) and didn't think it was really worth going even though it was our first time.

Do they still have an event for people that are interested in DVC? I thought they gave you OBC and drinks at the event.

I don’t recall seeing free water bottles being offered at the DVC event on Fantasy in April.

They had table and tables filled with Evian on the dream.
