I think you just answered my question! I bought Hopper's at the DS today. We can get into the park with those and then go to the bank to do the upgrades and discount?

You can upgrade ANY time during your stay. The first or the last! When are you going? We head out in 3 weeks and I called to find out about the new DVC member perks for January. Not too much info. However, if you are staying in January and you are a DVC member staying onsight you should receive a discount booklet for additional perks for the month of January only!

We are going Dec. 28 - Jan. 2. The kids don't know we are going. It is part of their X-mas present (huge part!) They will find out when they open it up on Christmas Eve.
The only downside is... we will not be staying onsite this time. It was kind of last minute planning. I actually worked on it for a month, but all Disney Hotels are booked. I know that it will be very crowded this time of year, but we have never been at this time, so we are really excited! (The adults that is! The kids will be when they find out!)
Any tips for this time of year?

Patience!!!!! Make sure to have dining reservatons for at least 2 meals per day, go early in the morning and plan on leaving mid-day and possibly go back in the late evening.

I did figure on the patience part! Should I have already made dining reservations or do you mean make them early in the day? We wanted to do at least one character breakfast, probably at Goofy's Kitchen. Do you think that is a possibility at this late date?
Also, I heard on NYE day that you need to get to the park fairly early and not leave, if you want to see the evening festivities. Would you know anything about that?
