Good morning,

My wife and I will be going to Disney World in September, we will be at BLT. We've booked our restaurants for the most part and will be getting a Disney Dining Plan. I just noticed that DVC members receive a 10% discount at Citricos (for example).

This is an etiquette question: Should I mention that I am a DVC member to receive a 10% discount on my meal that is paid for by my dining plan - essentially I am simply tipping based on my overall bill that is now 10% cheaper.

ALSO: I haven't seen it - do DVC members get a discount on any dining plans? Is there anything out there?

Thank you!

Gratuities should always be calculated on the full non-discounted amount of the meal.

Members do not receive any discounts on the price of the dining plan.

1) No, your DVC membership discount will not be applied to a meal paid for with a dining plan. But you can apply it to any add-on items you may have to pay cash for, like appetizers, if your dining plan doesn't include appetizers.

2) While it isn't a "discount" on the dining plans, DVC does not pay the recent price increase or the seasonal increase for the dining plans. DVC's price is negotiated for one year at a time.

And you don't have to purchase park admission as part of a package to be able to add a dining plan.

Agreed anytime you are at a restaurant (Disney or at home) you are supposed to tip based on the regular price not the coupon or discount. Although you can add up your price minus the tax - you don't have to tip on the tax.
