DVC Member Cruise question

On the DVC member cruise page :
"*Effective March 21, 2011, Members who do not purchase their Ownership Interests directly from Disney will not be able to use those vacation points to make reservations for the Member Cruise."

I have points transferred in from a friend who purchased their points resale. Does that mean I can not used those transferred points for Cruise. I purchased my own points Disney Direct, but the transferred points were resale from original owner. Can I still combine them for cruise?

Also, those transferred points from the original owner were purchased way before March 2011, is it grandfathered in and exempt from this rule?

No clue on the effect of transfers, but any points purchased resale before the change were grandfathered in, so my guess is that you'll be fine.

Only MS can tell you how they will enforce the rules that they made up. It will be one of those, depends who you talk to issues.

We went on a members cruise a couple of years ago. Only one of our contracts, and a small 30 point one at that, was bought direct from DVC. We were told that as long as we had SOME of our points that were purchased direct we were allowed "in." I don't know if it mattered that we actually paid cash for the cruise rather than actually USING points or not; I don't think so. Hope that is at least encouraging for you. But of course it's best to just ask.
