Since they have finally announced the 2008 dates for the member cruise, I have a few questions.
First, can you book some passengers on points and some on cash? When will the point chart/pricing be released?
According to some members currently onboard, the booking date will be Nov. 17. Will we receive anything in the mail prior?
Thanks!!:goodvibes

In the past you could book MC's on points, cash or a combination, some passengers on points, some on cash.

As far as being notified ahead of time, that's been a sore point. Some have reported not getting notified by mail before the call in date. I think keeping abreast of the DVC site's announcements and any e-mails from DVC and this board is important if you don't want to miss out.

I'm going to be visiting with DS who more or less rolls his eyes when I or DH mentions Disney. There's not any chance of my spending time on a phone that day trying to call in for a ressie. This will be our only visit with him before he begins a 2 month travel time to SE Asia. So if we think we want to go on the Members cruise, I'll be calling in at a later date to get on a wait list if one exists!

Nov. 17th is also DH's special birthday, another reason not to spend hours on the phone. We'll be celebrating!

FWIW, I got the mailing today.

Dates are September 21-25, 2008--Sunday through Thursday.

"Call Member Services on Saturday, November 17, 2007, beginning at 9:00 am EST"

Also says "visit dvcmember.com for . . . Points Chart . . . ."

We got the mailing today also. It says to look at the member site for "Things to Know Before You Call" for point charts and booking information.

I went to the member site and couldn't find anyhing posted yet.

Surprise, surprise. Par for the course I suppose. Send the mailing out, update the site a week later. That site is just the pits, I get more and more frustrated with it every day.

the website has the points chart on it now :scared1:

Also trying to get some more info on the members Cruise. I found the points chart for a 4 night cruise departing on Sept 21. My question is are the points the same for a Member Cruise or are they more? Thanks for your help.:confused3

In the past, especially the 2007 MC, the points have been ridiculously higher than a regular cruise; even though you don't really go anywhere except CC twice. You are paying dearly for those premium 'gifts' you receive onboard. To some, it is worth it for the whole experience. It really depends on how much you value the experience and 'gifts'. We did the MC once and it was nice, but not worth the increased points/cash. I still like reading about the experience from those who went but I am usually glad I did not go (especially last year). We enjoyed it more for the company of other DVCers but that can be done on a regular cruise for alot less, with a little planning.

Wow, I'm surprised. The points are actually lower than they were for the 2006 MC (at least for the Category 3).
