On our cruise in the fall of 2015, we received some DVC tervis tumbler mugs that we used the entire cruise. Does anyone know if they are still currently doing something similar? I'm wondering if I need to pack the ones we got last time?

TIA

Aloha asunutgirl, I was just on the Dream early this month and they had some nice tervis style mugs. They were more like an oversized coffee mug with a handle which I thought was kind of nice because it was different. They were not authentic Tervis but looked nice. I declined one because I had brought my own Tervis with its handy handle. I bet they will have them later but since your cruise is quite a few months away I would ask again when your date is closer. Good luck and happy planning!

They had them the last 2 cruises we did on Disney; I bet they are still giving them out.

They aren't Tervis, they are knockoffs, so we declined them both times.

What happens at the "DVC Members Celebration"? I am a DVC member. Is it worth attending?

Nice! I have not been to a DVC member celebration in so long, I think they were still giving away the red baseball hats. Might have to hit it this cruise. What about the wood boxes for pirates night? they still giving those away?

Just off the Wonder in San Juan, we received the Tervis mugs at the dvc gathering. Also member baseball caps before our first port.

Nothing for the 25th celebration?
Heck in DTD or I should say DS [Disney Springs] they are handing out the 25th Buttons, as long as you have your DVC card

Just to be clear they are definitely NOT Tervis (brand) mugs. They are a rather cheap knock off that after a couple of washings get water between the walls. We have about 40 of these and just tossed about 35. That ending said we still love them and use them every single morning. Gives a little "zip-a-dee-do-dat" to the start of your day!

On my last two cruises the DVC Members Celebration has been held about 2.30pm in one of the lounges on Embarkation Day. As you enter, they'll give you a DVC lanyard, free drinks (usually the ship's drink of the day, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and lately they have been handing out the tervis style mugs (with the handles). You can fill out a card for an OBC drawing, and they usually have a game or two for a couple of other DVC merchandise prizes. In the meantime, they provide a DVC update and do a soft sell to urge you to buy more points. During the week you can drop by the DVC desk each day and pick up additional give-aways, such as the hats, trading pins, buttons, etc. They will also have several sales-pitch sessions to join DVC during the cruise, and you can drop into these as well to collect even more stuff.

My kids LOVE attending the member presentations. They love the games. dad just likes the alcohol.

Sir William gave a very good description of the DVC Member Updates on the DCL ships. I always enjoy them and usually walk away with some "freebie" that I like. The newer DVC ball caps are a very nice turquoise color. I like them. I also declined the knock-off Tervis as I had my own Tervis (and the handle for it. LOVE the handles for the Tervis cups. Makes it so much easier to tote around) with me on the cruise.

I was just on the Dream early this month and they had either cold bottles of water or Champagne as drinks. Lanyards, buttons, caps and the mugs were freebies. I do enjoy hearing what the "updates" have to say and the trivia questions are kind of fun. On longer cruises (over 7 nights) they will often have more than one member exclusive event.

Correction - Tervis style. We've kept ours in decent shape because I don't put them in the dishwasher. Which is probably why we don't use them much. LOL

They were giving out the 25th button when we cruised one the Dream earlier this month. Since we had stayed at WDW before the cruise, we already had ours that we got a Saratog Springs.

If we are cruising with another couple who are not DVC members, can they attend the event with us?

The DVC celebrations are for members only, for non-DVC members they will have a separate session where they'll 'sell' DVC. As for the lanyards, on our last few cruises, we've gotten them in the terminal before boarding.

Does anyone know whether newer (post 4/4/16) resale DVC members will be excluded from this event?

I have no idea. They do have a list of rooms onboard that have DVC Members, but sometimes they miss some. Sometimes I have received a call at home reminding me to come to the onboard meeting, but almost always there's a DVC magnet on my door.

Why don't you start a new thread asking if any post 4/4/16 resale only buyers have been invited?

For anybody that likes pin trading, the lanyards make really nice pin lanyards since they're much thicker than Castaway Club lanyards. On our past 2 or 3 cruises we've been left a note to stop by the DVC stand to get goodies including hats and once that nice wooden box possibly a pin; in addition to the DVC presentation.
