Looking over the Eastern Navagator's on Dave's website, I noticed a "DVC Member Celebration" from 10-11AM on the first day at sea. I was wondering. Do you have to be invited or show an invitation? Is it meant for DVC members only and do they have to show their card?? Or is it simply a sales pitch for DVC?? Has anyone gone before that could answer these questions? Also, in our group of 8 that are traveling, only 4 are DVC members can the others go as well as guests?
THANKS for any info and HAPPY 4TH!!!

i think that one is for members only and they sometimes give little gifts out , i'm sure you could take your fellow cruisers, they have other presentations throughout the week for sales pitches, you'll probably have to show your card but if you have booked on points i think you may have an invite in your room.

We played a DVC trivia game and they gave out prizes (DVC themed of course). Nice way to meet fellow DVC cruisers. I can't remember if we got an invitation or not, just watched the Navigator and went. The DVC desk on the fourth deck above the atrium would give out daily gifts as well (luggage tags, can coozies).

We're DVC members, but didn't use points to cruise a couple weeks ago. We knew about the DVC meet from the postings here and stoped by the Deck 4 desk to ask if it was open to any DVC member. It is.

DCL doesn't know the DVC members not on points. We just showed up. Everyone was handed a red "DVC Member" baseball cap. The Raffle "Quiz" started. Funny, the right answer was ALWAYS given....not always by the DVC member....but everyone chosen was a winner!

Can't say much more as we had to leave for our spa reservation in the middle of it all.

We've booked with points (3rd time). Never heard anything about a DVC party, but sure would like to meet others. Will they do this on the 4-day? It would be fun!

siily047 - DVC is the Disney Vacation Club. Disney's version of a timeshare but instead of set weeks it is point based and can be used on your home resort as well as other options like the cruise.

dotterson - I don't think they do the DVC celebration on the 3 or 4 day - only the 7 day or longer cruises.

There is usually one member party (the last one we went to was 10 am on Key West morning (I think on the Eastern it is the first sea day). Everyone who attended got a DVC ball cap and anyone with little kits got a sand bucket and shovel. They play a game and if your ticket is picked you win a nice prize (towels, bags, etc.) There is coffee, tea, juice, and sweet rolls.

There are usally then 2 different DVC info sessions for non members, but members are enouraged to attend to tell their stories. Here there are a few trivia questions that may get you a prize and a raffle drawing (one member and one non-member).

Guests can come - the frist time we went to one we brought my in-laws along. They aren't members but have used our points :D

We used my parents' DVC points to pay for part of our cruise last February, so we received an invitation to the DVC Member reception. We went to the reception and were glad we did! We were given DVC baseball caps, a T-shirt, and a mousepad. We also received DVC lanyards in our stateroom with the invitation to the reception. You do not have to show a membership card to attend the reception. However, the reps did think we were DVC members and asked us a trivia question. Luckily, I knew the answer! After the DVC trivia game, the reps updated us on the new point values for 2005 and offered discounts if you bought more points while onboard. There was no big sales pitch that I recall. It would be worthwhile to at least stop in to get the free stuff!:teeth:

Hey, if Disney folks are reading this -- those on 3- and 4-night cruises would love to meet each other (you don't have to give prizes, tho it's nice!!!!)

There are plenty of us on shorter cruises that would love to tell their stories when you pitch DVC to new memebrs!!!!!

I agree. In fact we bought DVC after our first cruise which was a 3 day. We we waiting for the theatre to open for Disney Dreams one night and started talking to a DVC Member who was cruising on points. He was one of the reasons we called for into on it. So glad we did as we bought into DVC 4 months later!
