Finally, tomorrow is my 7 mos mark for booking our Aulani vacation! Hopefully, I am successful!

I know I need to be online and prepare to refresh the page at 8:00 am Eastern time.

Any other pointers??

Wish me luck :)

Just did this a few weeks ago….Yes have everything ready to go, and you should not have a problem. I was able to get the whole 7 nts in the beginning of July at 7 months… The DVC website was having problems that day and it drove me crazy. I was still able to get what we needed… Good Luck…Have you done any dry runs in the day leading up to tomorrow ?

No, should I? You mean pretend it's 7 mos from today and see what I can do?

We had no problems booking right on the 7 month window for President's week! We got a 1br Garden view villa for 7 nights on the first try.

Good luck!!!!! :thumbsup2

I'm curious.. Is that actually necessary fur August bookings or is this DISers being DISers? What's been the experience at 7 months for Aulani so far?

Get some sleep...if you can!

How did you do booking at 7 mos?

Successful? Just curious, were you able to secure standard?

We started out wanting standard 2BR for our May Aulani vaca....No way...Wound up not even getting 2 BR dedicated island view, but 2 Br lockoff!
Oh well, was very lucky because initially only view we could book was poolview..Waitlisted island view, then we were VERY LUCKY and got island view! Want to save some points and didn't want any pool noise anyway from poolview! Very happy with island view, but standard view would have been fine too!:cool1:

Aulani this morning amidst 12 inches of snow and FRIGID SINGLE DIGIT TEMPS is SOOOOO TEMPTING! CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!

HOPE THAT YOUR BOOKING WAS SUCCESSFUL!:dance3:

Just noticed your "South Jersey Gal Trapped in Mass"...THAT IS TOO FUNNY...
CUTE!!!!:thumbsup2 Hope that you can "make the best of it"..!!!:cool1:

Depending on when you want to go and what type of unit / view you want then you do usually need to be ready to book as soon as the online res. system is available. Last year we wanted a studio for a week in August and I was ready and hit submit for an OV studio the minute the clock hit 8:00. As soon as I was done booking I went back & did another search (by 8:10 or so) and all but one of the of the studio views had spotty availability for 7 consecutive nights. We would've had to waitlist the OV. Usually it seems the lower views are harder in general to get because they require fewer points. But you never know what your odds are until you go to book. I have been stalking the site for a couple of weeks, checking it daily and there are never std. views open for a week & often there's a day or so already taken in the IV. Aulani is pretty popular it seems.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes and concern. Our plans changed slightly so I now need to book at 8am tomorrow, Saturday, January 4. Been stalking this week and should be OK for a Monday arrival. My whole family has been reminding me about getting up and ready tomorrow. I'm central time so I have to be logged on for 7am.

And, I already agree with the other posters. It's necessary to get on as soon as your window opens. On the 2nd, I meant to check right at 7am but forgot. Checked at 9am for my old dates and couldn't get the whole week for an island or pool. Would have had to do OV which would require me to borrow points from 2015. I'm trying not to do that as we are hoping to take whole family to WDW for a few nights next year!

I hope you got your reservation. I will be at the 7 mos mark for booking Aulani later this week. When you say "prepare to refresh the page at 8:00am eastern time," what page would you be on when you hit refresh?

If you log in before 8 o'clock and go to plan your vacation, you apparently have to refresh the page at 8am otherwise it won't allow you to book at 8am.

I'm booking the in the AM. I will hopefully be reporting my success :)

How did it go? I hope you got what you wanted. Any tips based on your experience?

I was so excited I logged on a little before 8 (7 for me) and it said not available yet. I went back and looked at another resort for fun to kill 5 minutes then typed in Aulani.

Got the pool view I wanted. They ask a few questions after you choose what you want and warn you that you have 20 minutes to complete or your request will be cancelled. Had plenty of time.

Went back in at 8:25 just to see. I still could have gotten pool view, but not island view for all dates. Ocean view seems to always be available, but didn't want to give up all of my points.

Good luck!

CONGRATS, GREAT NEWS!:cool1::cool1:

Ocean view ALWAYS SEEMS to be available! I personally don't want to spend the extra points on Ocean View! Island View is more than FINE for us! I would rather "save" the points for our quick 4night "childless" trip to WDW in December! Can't WAIT for both trips this year!!:cheer2::cheer2:

HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ENJOY YOUR AULANI TRIP!!!!!!:beach:thumbsup2

This is typically how it looks to me when I look too but that's also why it's harder to get the lower views. While everybody would love an OV nobody wants to part with the points if they can get by with less. I'll be a Nervous Nellie until I can get ours booked in a few days!!popcorn::

OV must be BEAUTIFUL, but points are "hefty" especially in a 2 BR!

What view are you attempting, PV or IV?

I am CURIOUS about something at Aulani. A question for the "EXPERTS"...
Why did DVC make poolview LOWER Floors, highest is 5 I believe than a lower category of booking, islandview????

Strange to me that poolview, higher booking category maxs at floor 5 and a lower category, island view, can be much HIGHER FLOORS???????:(:(

Thanks to anyone who may be in the "know"......:cool1:

I am going for an IV studio with PV 2nd choice…but will book OV if that's all that is available and will waitlist the IV.

Most resorts have PV as a higher booking category over IV. IV tends to be more "iffy" as sure you can see the island but often there are other things in there that spoil the view and make it less desirable - like parking garages in the immediate foreground or another resort next door. I think PV is probably usually a safer bet in that you will see a lot of lush foliage along with the pool. It doesn't really have anything to do with the floor number. Aulani stopped the PV at the 5th floor because by the 6th floor you can start to see the ocean even if it's only a glimpse, so they categorized those as OV.
