Do DVC owners who bought resale get the special DVC bands?
I will survive the trauma of being denied those sweet looking bands so please tell me the truth.

Oooh I didn't know there was a special band for owners. Following your post to see any replies (and off to visit my friend Mr Google to read up on them :)

I don't think you need to be a DVC member I think you just need to be staying on a DVC reservation to get the special band...so even people renting points get them I am pretty sure

I watched a youtube video about Aulani and this family was renting points the first day she talked about not getting the different DVC pool band cause they were not the DVC member. A few days later her family got the different DVC pool band. I guess it was all in the CM working the pool station.

If you own DVC, then why wouldn't you get one? you booked with your points, right?

DVC bands are glittery, non-DVC bands are just normal with no sparkle.
Thank you @kyton ahh so as I've upgraded my bands to premium ones we won't get the sparkly ones then... unless we can purchase one in the gift shop? It would be nice to have dedicated DVC bands so don't mind paying oop for them :)

The bands aren’t something you can buy - every day you have to go to a dedicated site with your room key. They then check you against the hotel records and issue however many bands are needed for registered guests. They actually put them on you there and then - you can’t easily remove them, most times you need a knife or pair of scissors. No bands means no access to the pools, slides, chairs, lazy river etc. The CMs are trained to look for the bands.

Oh wow! thank you so much for explaining, I'd never heard about them before. So it seems it's to prevent unqualified peeps from pool hopping. Thanks again kytoon :)

When we were there last month we had to show our blue card to get the DVC daily bands.

We specifically asked this question when we were at Aulani in May/June this year. One CM told us it was a new policy to check your blue member card before giving you one of those sparkly bands. Since we didn't feel like going back to the room to get our card and there really isn't a reason to need one, we just went with the plain band. However, enforcement of this "new policy" is apparently very sporadic. And pointless, AFIC.

Unless they are pushing that shiny benefit for DVC vs regular stay folk....how about a free DL ticket instead?

They asked for our blue card plus ID to get the blingy bands last month. They did say once we got it once, we could show it the next day for the new one. We were also asked for the blue card for the free popcorn, merchandise, rainbow reef and grand villa tour.
