We will be staying in a 1-bedroom unit for three nights in December. We typically order groceries from Garden Grocer and cook one meal at "home" each day. With such a short stay this time, I don't want to order groceries in.

So here is my challenge to you. Please give me some ideas on meals I could make using only ingredients available in the resort store. Thanks!

It really depends on where you're staying, and how much time you are spending at the parks, and what you want to make!

For only 3 days, I'd probably eat out a bit more, maybe making breakfast in early (which I'm sure you can get everything at the store there, like eggs, butter, milk, juice, bread, bacon, etc... for a nice big breakfast).

I sometimes bring a suitcase with pantry items (not heavy cans, but things like McCormick instant sausage gravy mix, rice mixes, cereal, pancake mix, very small condiment bottles double ziploc bagged of course, etc).

We've made simple spaghetti and salad in a one bedroom, also frozen pizza or chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, sandwiches (mostly for those who are just plain tired and also tired of eating out and want something simple).

1. Mac n cheese with your choice of lunch meat cubed and mixed in. Heat some canned veggies on the side.
2. Quasi eggs benedict using whatever bread is available in the store (I believe some even carry English muffins), eggs, a bit of cream, butter/margarine, lemon juice (available in some QS resort locales), and then a lunch meat to place on top.
3. Pasta with sauce as both are usually sold at resort stores.
4. Southwest Omelette with cheese, lunch meat, and salsa and chips.

Good eats!

I'd likely do things I could take with me as much as possible. Packaged pasta, packaged danish, cereal, even canned items might offer possibilities. Another direction is to take frozen meat and veggies to grill. We do these type of choices anytime we go to high cost locations for around a week or more. We'll take condiments, sandwich items also.

You could premix pizza dough except water and oil. Pack in suitcase. Then add sauce, cheese, toppings from the store. We usually mix up the dough in the morning and then let it rise in the fridge all day or even overnight.

Enjoy!

OP here. Thanks for the ideas! We will be coming to WDW after a 7-night DCL cruise, so the frozen food idea won't work. I like the egg dish ideas for dinner however. Do they sell pancake syrup in the DVC gift stores? French toast and bacon sounds good! I also like the mac and cheese idea. Yum.

If you're going to WDW after the cruise, take a car service or rent a car for the day and stop at a grocery store and get what you want (i.e. what garden grocer might drop off) Most car services will give you a 15 minute or so grocery stop, so just plan ahead.

You could still ship many things or have them with you on the ship but obviously this wouldn't work for perishables. For a longer stay I'd do a car or taxi to get to a grocery store. For 3 nights it's likely not worth making it that big of a deal. We've done this many times for longer trips where one had to fly (HI & Aruba mostly) and had a lot of success.

Can premake pancake mix, or use Aunt Jemima 'complete' that just needs water!

I was fairly impressed with their freezer meal selection at the DVC resorts. Frozen pizza was decently priced!

One of our favorite easy dinners is baked potato, salsa and cheese. We bring the potatoes, buy the salsa and cheese at the market. If we have left overs we will add them.
