Has anyone else received a letter regarding this? We're booked for a grand villa in mid May and got the letter yesterday, 2/17. I googled beach renourishment at HHI, and got an article pertaining to this year's project. It appears it will be an extensive project lasting most of the 2016 beach season. Looks like construction will be in the Beach House area when we're there in May. Has anyone been there during previous renourishment projects? I believe previous projects took place in 1990, 1997 and 2006.....so the Beach House was probably only there during the 2006 project.

Thanks for the information. We renewed our vows there last year right in front of the beach house. So glad this wasn't going on then. We will be back in October. Hope they are done by then. It says it will take 4-5 months, but I can't find when it's starting.

This is on the Disney site:

From May 2, 2016 through June 2016, Beaufort County will be initiating a beach re-nourishment project that will affect the beach adjacent to Disney’s Beach House. During this time, additional walking may be required to reach available portions of the beach. You may also hear construction noise and see county employees at work. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

This is a fairly standard thing to occur on a beach. The timing may be due to storm damage this winter. You can either go with the flow or cancel and pick a different beach vacation. We are going around July 4 so it may very well stretch to our time frame as well.

I know beach renourishment happens every so many years all up and down the East Coast. However, when I googled it, an entire Beaufort County project page came up and it looks to be a
pretty extensive project. It appears they plan to work 24 hours a day for the duration of the project. The project description states the primary beach disruption will be "bulldozers moving/grading sand after being dredged offshore and brought to the beach area by 30 inch pipeline from the dredging areas". They expect to move 1.3 million cubic yards of sand onto a 5 mile stretch of beach of which Disney's Beach House sits midway. Given the fact that the project seems SO extensive and will operate 24 hrs a day I'm guessing it's going to be slightly more than a "minor inconvenience".

Oh well. I'll be there in July over the holiday and it won't bother me at all.

First of all the actual resort is not on the beach. So when I'm sleeping or relaxing on my deck there will be no construction noise.

Yes, I usually use the beach house and go to the beach in front of the Disney Beach house. It's nice and convenient - especially when I go for a sunrise walk I'm often one of the few cars there that early and it's a short little easy walk to the surf.

But - there are quite a few public beaches on Hilton Head that can be accessed, so if they are working directly in front of the Disney beach house, we will just go to another beach if it is not usable.

Tell me about it ! Our last three stays are WLV, BCV, and now HHI. I have gotten construction letter every time !
