Hello everyone!

We have multiple DVC contracts and are interested in the DVC insurance for our 2020 use year. Does anyone know if it is $99 per member, or per contract?

It would seem odd to charge different amounts for a single member with 4 contracts of 100 points versus a member with 1 contract of 400 points.

But on the Travelex website, you can only enter in one contract number per $99 insurance policy. Travelex phone support didn't know the answer, and I have gotten only busy signals with DVC Member Services.

Thoughts appreciated...

From what I understand it covers all the points per UY in the membership. I don’t think it matters how many contracts,

So, if you have a trip with all 3 kinds of points, you pay $99 x 3, no matter where they came from.

And I believe it starts the first of the year. So in January you pay the insurance for all trips booked in the CALENDAR YEAR, not UY. If your trips are within your UY but cross into two different calendar years, all trips wont be covered.

Did not know that! Thank you!

So how does this insurance cover the points? If you have multiple use years , do you have to buy for each use year ? How does that go with the above post about calendar year?
Lot of questions trying to understand this insurance and reading on site not helpful to me.
Appreciate any help with insight.

I can tell you that multiple UYs are different memberships so yes, each has to have its own.

I just call them every year to pay and they sort it all out. I'm pretty sure each membership would need a policy though. We have 2 contracts, same resort and UY so just one membership, and we just pay for one every UY. Plus if you take out the insurance before dues are due each year, pre-existing conditions are covered. It's worth it to us to pay early cause you never know what they will call pre-existing.

Pretty sure it covers per use year. For instance, in January I paid my 2020 UY insurance (UY April, paid in January to cover the preexisting conditions clause). That will cover ANY trips I've made with 2020 points. Including if I bank those 2020 points and used then in 2021.

At least, that is how it was explained to me by MS

So do you get reimbursed the maintenance fees for points you lose ?

Yes. Plus travel expenses (plane tickets, etc). However, pandemics are not covered.

I've never actually had to file a claim, so not completely sure what they do and do not cover...
