We are actually making our first trip as a family to Disney this year and wish to experience DVC firsthand. We are thinking of adding One Night to our stay and renting enough points for that one night. Based on the recent DVC news that they are limiting the number of transactions an owner can make I would expect this to be more diffulcult to aquire than it would have been a month ago.

Is it still possible to just rent enough points for a one night stay? Additionally is there a certain resort that I will really enjoy and enjoy the full effect of DVC and the elegance that it offers?

You can book a night at any of the resorts through CRO - you don't have to rent from an owner to stay in a DVC location. Additionally, Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club, and Wilderness Lodge all have regular "Inn" rooms as well as DVC "Villa" units. The biggest difference will be in room and unit size.

Which resort you choose depends on your family's taste and travel plans. I've always done the virtual tours via. the Disney site to get a feel for where I wanted to stay.

The recent DVC news will not change the ability to rent a night from an owner at all. It merely restated policy about how members will be allowed to interact regarding the transfer of points between themselves.

If you are planning on adding a night for sometime between October and the end of the year, there may be very limited availability thru DVC members- however, it can still be accomplished. You can check out the Rent/Trade Board for help finding someone to assist with that night.

Good luck! :)

You won't have a problem renting one night. Try to use a Sun.-Thur. night if possible as the points required are a lot less on those nights. As for the "DVC" experience, it really depends on your personal tastes: do you want to be within walking distance to the parks, or do you prefer something quiet and out of the way? Do you spend a lot of time @ DTD? Each DVC resort offers something special, you just need to decide which one your family would prefer. Also, you'll have to decide what type of accomodations you'll need. What you're planning is very wise and I can assure you many a membership has been sold to people that just want to try before they buy!

I don't consider OKW to be elegance - now I do love it. but it has a relaxed and lay back style.

BWV and SSR are elegant my opinion...

here are some pictures

Old Key West, Broadwalk Villa, Villa of WIlderness lodge, Beach Club Villas, Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa - are the DVC resort at WDW.

VWL is breath taking....

BCV is grandmother cottage - I love it - but I don't think it is elegant.

WOW, OKW is beautiful...

Would appear that it 24 points for a weeknight (I would need Monday...) I'm guessing check in and check out times are the same for the DVC properties as other resorts?

Actually DVC check-in time is later at 4pm. Checkout is 11 am.

If your ticker is when you were thinking of going then you may be limited as to where you can stay. Because of the Food & WIne Festival and MNSSHP, there may be next to nothing available (even for one night). October, November and December are very busy times at DVC
