Unfortunately, "Mexico" probably means "Cancun". Its nice and all, but would like something different.

Whatever they do, I hope they don't do the Bahamas. Flat and boring, may as well be in Florida.

I'm with you on this. I'm just not interested in going to Cancun. There are much more beautiful places in Mexico. I also wouldn't like the Bahamas either. At least Nassau just seemed like a dirty, nasty little island and I'm even comparing this to places in Jamaica. Jamaica, at least, is a beautiful island, Nassau was just...blah.

If they build a DVC anywhere else before California or Hawaii I think that it would be a mistake. California should be a given since there's so many members on the west coast that I'm sure they'd love to buy into DVC closer to their homes. There are also many DVC members that trade out to go to Hawaii that I think it also would be sold out soon.

Bahamas :crazy2: yuk!

Hawaii would also cater to the west coast DVC members since flights from there are pretty numerous and can sometimes relatively inexpensive (like Florida is for us east coasters).

If they do an east coast Mexico DVC, put it a little further south along the Mayan Riviera, maybe between Playa Del Carmen and Tulum. Tie it in with a whole Mayan ruin theme. Could have potetnial.

Totally agree. Been there, done that on several cruises and do not like the Bahamas at all. Have no interest in anything remotely resembling Cancun or Acapulco either. Something near Mayan ruins would be cool though.

I'd love something in the UK or Italy, but that will probably never happen so I'll just keep dreaming! :)

Yeah, I think if DVC does expand outside of WDW, it will stick with North America (and Hawaii), and mostly domestic.

Although I agree and don't see anything outside of North America a likely DVC prospect, I find it interesting that the UK hasn't been seriously considered for something. Although I am totally unfamiliar with the popularity of timeshares in general across the pond, I do know that WDW has a huge UK following.

In all the years we've been coming to WDW, (nearly 30!!!), it seems as if there are just as many Brits enjoying WDW as Americans! :)

True, but I just don't see a DVC there without a park tie-in or a recreational/resort draw. Besides it would be way to seasonal. I also suspect that when the Brits go on vacation, the want to get the heck off their island. A EuroDisney DVC might work, it has the park and the draw of Paris that would pull Americans too. I think Bermuda would be a good place for the Brits, exotic enough, but their territory.

I'd go for a Euro Disney DVC. :) At least that way, we could vist the Park, tour Paris and hop the Chunnel to London for a few days afterwards! :cool1:

Heard this on the Wall Street Journal Report on XM this morning -- found the article and will read it shortly.

I think the real news in this is that it sounds like Disney is ready to commit to getting into the hotel and/or timeshare business. That was the missing ingredient when they started to build offsite last time. They just weren't geared up to market to folks who don't just "love Disney".

WSJ was suggesting that the real key location they should go for is NYC. Long ago DVC talked about this, even had it in the plans when they built the Broadway theaters. Maybe with the strong presence Disney has on B'way, they are ready to start again with a hotel --- hopefully one with DVC accomodations!

All of the places suggested sound wonderful and they are all places I would love to go. I have not been to Hawaii to make the comparision with the Caribbean, but I find the Carribean beautiful, or at least the places I have been. I would be thrilled to go to more!

We would love a DVC NYC. That would be a great idea and Disney would be able to market a stay along with it's Broadway Plays.

While Castaway Cay is a cool idea, having DCL or charter air as the only means of getting there would be just too limiting to make it realistic. A DVC DCL itself would be more likely (albeit remote too.)

The WSJ article I quoted above also mentioned the building of new cruise ships (not a surprise there), maybe with enough clamoring, we can get them to earmark one for DVC!

I would prefer Hawaii (more interesting) over the Caribbean, but if they do, I wonder if they would try to stick with a US territory (i.e., St. Croix, St. Johns, even Puerto Rico). Would be less risky.

Unfortunately, "Mexico" probably means "Cancun". Its nice and all, but would like something different.

The Rockies would be cool, California is a given. What (realistically) else could be considered?

Whatever they do, I hope they don't do the Bahamas. Flat and boring, may as well be in Florida.

Bermuda would be cool, a draw for our DVC members across the pond?
there are already 2 former hyatt resorts (both closed) in dorado, puerto rico. they both have really nice pools (large) and are located on golf courses. i may be in the minority, but i really like puerto rico. been there enough to know where to stay, and where to avoid. it would be nice to see disney quality down there. jmo.

I would love that, beside the Broadway shows, I could catch New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theater performances. Youngest DS now longs to go to NYC(have no clue where that came from).

Going a little off topic here....but that's for sure that Brits have a strong presence at WDW. In the early days of DVC there were far more British owners than folks from many parts of the U.S. -- not sure how it plays out these days.

Another Huricane hotel, great.... Why don't you guys learn your lession. It maybe a fun place to visit but will definately have trouble selling out. Hope they make it small.

Expain the attraction of going to some island in the Caribean over HH or VB? VB has a beach and when it is not flooded is a nice place to visit. The advantage of VB is tha you can drive there from WDW in 2 hours or less.

I would love a DVC in the Caribbean! I would buy in, in a heart beat. We have no desire to go to Hawaii. For us it would be too long of a flight. I would love to buy on of the timeshares that Marriott is building on St. Thomas, but they are ungodly expensive. Plus, I really like the point system better.

For me, I agree about HH and VB vs. Carribean, but I have never been a huge fan of the Carribean. Plus a large part of my VB and HH trip is golf, which can't be beat for golf (even VB is pretty good). But I think there is plenty of market for DVC there, and I too would visit occasionally. Give me Hawaii , though, and I might buy.

As for hurricanes, if the threat really bothered people that much, you would't see the huge development along these coasts, with immediate rebuilds after the storms. People want the waterfront too much and don't care (or at least forget in a year). Plus, maybe maintainence fees in a place like Mexico would still be cheap due to cheaper labor?

Completely disagree. Cancun is fully developed, nothing left. That would mean buying an existing resort and I don't see them doing that.

One Brit signing in who also likes to vacation on this island sometimes as well as get off it at others ;)

A lot of people still think that Disneyland Paris should have been built in Spain for the better weather and longer summer season and I wouldn't disagree.

Bermuda sounds good though, but expensive. I read the Wall Street Journal article too (I was in Florida last week) and think it all sounds very hopeful :)
